Chapter 13: Game Day

2614 Words
Becs’ POV Breakfast with the Wilders was so much fun. We shared stories, joked and laughed all morning. I mean their whole house filled with our laughter. It was a invigorating experience. Poor Ben got ganged up on by us and I loved every second of it. He’s such a good sport. Though I do see where he gets his seriousness. I can tell his dad can be a force to wreck with. But he doesn’t have the same intensity as his son. And Mrs. Wilder is definitely the jokester of the bunch. Her laughter is loud and contagious. I just love here sense of humor. I have never felt this welcomed anywhere. They have made me feel like I am a part of their family. I look forward to spending more time with them. It was time to go back home and face that particular reality. But I feel confident and strong right. Especially after Mr. Wilder hugged me again before I left. It was the same daddy hug that he gave me earlier. I felt my soul become refreshed. He made sure to remind me that I am strong and loved before placing a light kiss on my temple. His mom gave me a bear hug as well before see us off. They are the most genuine people alongside Matt and his parents. I am blessed to have them all in my life. Ben made sure to escort me back into my house even though only my mom was home before heading to the gym to workout. Maya was glad to be home, she ran right to my mom wanting her attention. I sent Ben off with a long kiss before we parted ways after being together for 3 days. I already missed him. Corny I know but it’s the truth. “Rebecca, I’m so glad you’re home. I’m so sorry for everything my sweet girl. I don’t know what came over Tim. He blamed it on stress at work and trying to joke. He sends his apologies.” My mom said in a sad tone. I know for damn sure its all trash. Stress had nothing to do with it. But I will keep the peace. “It’s okay mom, I understand. Being with Ben all weekend really helped. We talked a lot and had fun with Matt. It was a really great weekend. His parents are wonderful too. We all really bonded well.” I said trying to move the topic of conversation away from Tim. Hell, where is he anyways? “I am so glad honey, I like Ben’s parents too. We had a nice chat Thursday evening. You chose a real prince to be your boyfriend. I can tell he thinks the world of you already.” Mom said smiling. “I think the world of him too. He’s a amazing guy. Look what he gave me on Friday!” I chirped happily showing her my promise ring. “Its absolutely beautiful Rebecca. I am so happy you found him.” She said hugging me. “Me too. Hey will you be at my first match tomorrow evening? Ben’s parents mentioned they wanted to attend with Ben. You and Tim can sit with them if you want.” I said. I know. I know. I conveniently added Tim in the mix because I’m too damn nosey and a glutton for punishment. But where is the guy? I know Zach will be there to perv on the girls like always. That’s no surprise. Tim has never been to one match. No surprise there either. Rather neither of them attend if I’m being honest. “That sounds wonderful. Tim is actually away all week for a medical conference he is speaking at. But I will be there for sure. Can’t miss your first match of the season! You will do great!” Mom cheered. Thank God, a week without Tim will be  a f*****g vacation. “Well mom, I have to unpack and get ready for practice this evening before tomorrow. The team is working on drills to make sure we are ready.” I said walking up the steps. “Sounds good honey. I’ll have dinner ready when you get home. Do you want to borrow my car?” She asked. “No, I’ll jog over and job back. It will be my warm up and cool down for practice.” I shouted from my room. … Ben is such a flirt. As I jogged to the school; a familiar T Bird drives by me and all I hear is Ben whistling at me as he drove off. Of course I blushed and shook my head trying to get my focus back. Practice went really well. The team looks solid and ready for anything. Tomorrow’s game is going to be good. The first game is with our biggest rivals from the town over. What’s funny is, I get along better with students from that school than my own. The party this weekend is at my friend’s house from that town. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of them showed up to distract me as a joke. It never works though and they always end up cheering my name. They don’t have much school spirit apparently. But I’m not going to lie either, I put up a good game. Finally home and showered, I make my way to the kitchen for dinner. Zach is already there chowing down and ignoring me. Mom places both of our plates down to eat. We shared a nice supper as I told mom more about my weekend and how practice went. Zach piped in to with his weekend update as well. He was actually somewhat pleasant for a change. I help clean up before heading to my room for the night. I try to get comfortable and find myself restless. Even only after 3 nights, I got used to Ben sleeping next to me. I got the best sleep with him. Maybe if I add more pillows or something. I need sleep. More importantly I need restful sleep to be on my game. Becs: I can’t get comfortable and it’s your fault Wilder. :P HandsomeBoy: What miss me already babe? Can’t sleep without me, huh? :D Becs: Apparently I do and I can’t. This won’t do at all. BTW, Tim is gone all week. Thank God. And Zach was surprising pleasant during supper. I like him better without his dad around. Maybe Tim will get lost and never find his way back home LOL HandsomeBoy: Oh you know you miss me. You just need my hot body up against yours to keep you warm. Seriously though, I miss you too. I like you in my arms at night. I haven’t slept that well ever. I am glad he’s away. It will be a nice break for you. I feel better knowing you don’t have to deal with him right now. Becs: Me too. And yes I miss you hot body. You’re a human heater and I’m always cold. It works out perfectly! But I do need to try to sleep. Have a good night. I love you Benny. HandsomeBoy: We are perfect Becs. Sleep well. I love you too gorgeous. With 4 extra pillows lining up my bed and curled up under my warm comforter; I finally drifted off to sleep thinking of Ben. … Ben’s POV I slept like crap without Becs next to me. I missed her terribly and couldn’t wait to see her. I caught her right before she left home and so she rode with me to school. And yes, we had a hot little make out session in my car before the bell rang. We walked hand in hand to each class we had together and that ring I got her caused some chatter but thankfully no one gave her problems. Probably because I scowled at anyone looking like they were going to say something smart. They’re done making her life hard. f**k them. She’s mine and they better realize it fast that I won’t mess around with them. School flew by and it was a pretty good day. Everyone was pumped for the first volleyball match of the season. The game started an hour after the last period of the day. Becs headed to the locker room before their warmups. The other team was already there in the guest locker room getting ready. I hung out in the stands with Mrs. Wright waiting for my parents to show up. Becs led her team out of the lockers for warm ups. And hot damn she looked good in those tiny spandex shorts with her hair up in a curly ponytail. She also had a long sleeved under armor shirt with a C on it. I notice Becs take charge of her team as her coach is due any time now. Apparently she is away on leave and the Vice Principle is sitting in but only following my girl’s lead. My parents show up and call out to Becs as she stretches. I watch her jump up and run over to them hugging both. She looks so happy. She points to me to show them where I’m at. I didn’t even realize she knew I was here yet. As my parents turn to walk up the benches, a group of kids from the other school come in carrying on. I watch Becs shake her head at them and quickly hug a few of them. She must know them. I hear them taunting her about losing but she just flipped them off and ran back laughing to her team. So lady like and I love it. Though those boys better realize she’s off limits. … DAMN! This match is heated. The rivalry is intense. My baby doll is aggressive as hell. Her nickname is grizzly apparently. She has successfully blocked all spikes that were in her zone as well as scoring every time she spiked and attacked the net. I could tell no one wanted to face her on the other side of the net. Even her setting up teammates looked amazing. She had perfect timing and communication with her team. They knew how to play with her and around her. Things got more interesting when they rotated and she played the back row. She barely let a wild ball go even it going out of bounds. She took some risky moves but it paid off each time. Damn she is good. She encouraged her team the whole time keeping moral up even when the other team scored. We have a good volley going back and forth right now. But wait! Lisa isn’t in her spot and she can’t get back into position in time. Becs sees this and launches herself through the air. As she hit the ground hard the ball met her wrists and kept it active for our team to score. Damn she went down hard and popped up like it was nothing. She wasn’t lying when she said she had worse falls. Even those kids taunting her earlier cheered her on. She’s amazing. The other team put up a good fight but it wasn’t enough. My girl’s team creamed them! She seemed to know everyone on the other team and complimented each girl on their game. Great sportsmanship. Great leader! Great way to start off the season! “Hey did you enjoy the game?” Becs said smiling after coming out of the locker room and running into arms. I picked her up and spun her around smiling. “That was awesome, baby doll! You’re aggressive as hell. And I love it!” I said happily making her giggle. We shared a short sweet kiss before meeting our parents outside. “Who knew this sweet girl could turn into a grizzly bear on the court! That’s some skill you displayed out there, Rebecca!” My dad cheered as the rest nodded in agreement. “She takes after her daddy when it comes to this sport.” Mrs Wrights smiles hugging her daughter. “How about I take everyone out for burgers and fries to celebrate the win?” Mr. Wilder asked. We all agreed and thanked him. My dad definitely has a soft spot for Becs. And yes, me and my girl shared another chocolate milk shake because we’re cute like that. … Becs’ POV Man! This week flew by. It has been a great week especially winning our first match at home and winning the 2nd match away. Ben drove my mom to the away game to cheer us on. They seem to be bonding well and I’m so thankful! With the high of winning our first 2 games; the whole school was pumped for the first football game of the season. And Benny will be making his first appearance on the field as the running back for our team. Not gonna lie, I am super excited seeing him in his uniform. I sat with my mom and his parents along with Lisa and Tina. We had our own Ben and Zach cheer section, yea I know I still gotta cheer for Zach especially since his dad is missing the first game. That and Zach has been sorta nice all week. Wish his dad would just stay away. I like Zach without Tim around. The announcers have already introduced the away team and now starting to call out our guys. We clap for each player and then cheer for Zach. They finally announce Ben Wilder as their new starting running back and we go wild. Damn he looks good. As he runs out he looks to the stands and spots me right away. He double taps his heart and points right at me before refocusing and running to his team. Of course everyone is “aweing” and poking at me as I smile sheepishly. He doesn’t even have to be close to me to make me blush. “GO BEN!!!” We all cheered as his very first play led to a touch down! He went thru the defensive like they weren’t even there. Sure enough, he doubled tapped his heart and pointed to me again. So I did it to him too. He nodded his head before a team meet chest pumped him. Carlos was looking solid for most of them game, but I think the coaches wanted to see Ben under pressure. They ran the ball a lot. Ben made plays and touchdowns right and left. Hell, I swear he could carry the whole defensive line on his back. Nothing stops this guy. You could read the frustration from the other team. One player even tried picking a fight but Ben put a stop it immediately. He tore his helmet and got into the kids face who pushed him. Whatever he said made the kid back off even before the referee could get involved. Our defense looked okay, they need more work. They let the opposing score one too many times for stupid reasons like no coverage when there should’ve been. Luckily Our offense was strong and won the game. Every girl wanted a piece of Ben after the game. That won’t do. He politely blew them off trying to talk to team mates until he found me walking towards him in the crowd. “There’s my fox.” He smiled brightly before picking me up in his arms and kissing me. “Great game Benny! You looked good out there…especially in this.” I purred at him while tugging on her jersey. He smirked sneaking in another kiss when Tina and Lisa caught up to me. “I’ll see you at the party Wilder. I texted the address to you.” I whispered in his ear. Get cleaned up and come find me.” I said kissing his cheek. I winked at him before heading off with the girls to get ready.
