Chapter 8: Time together

3523 Words
Mrs. Wilder POV I walked into my Benjamin's room quietly and took a moment to watch my boy and Rebecca sleep. I have never seen my big tough son so tender, so gentle and most importantly; so happy. I am so proud how he cared for Rebecca. Gives my confirmation that I raised him right. I can't wait to get to know the beautiful girl that stole my son's heart. Deep down I know he chose well. My husband and I loved each other at first sight as have Rebecca's parents. Lily stayed and visited with Ben's father and I for an hour last night. She told us everything Rebecca and her have been through. Such strong women. The three of us have no doubt in our minds that Ben and Rebecca are meant to be together. We all have the same love for one another that our children are displaying. I know I haven't officially met Rebecca yet. But I swear I could feel her heart and her love for my boy. As she rested against Ben after her attack, she perfectly in his arms. They are fated to be together. Their young love is just precious. I am so excited to see it blossom into what her parents had, into what me and my husband have. I almost got lost in my own thoughts watching them sleep. Rebecca looks so peaceful after the night she had.  "Ben, wake up. It's mom" I said softly, lightly shaking his shoulder. "I'm up." He said groggily. "No, son. Stay put. Lily and I talked. We want you and Rebecca to stay home from school today. Allow her to rest as long as she needs. We have already called the school. I have errands to run but call if you need anything. Go back to sleep my boy. I love you and I'm proud of you." I whispered not wanting to wake his girl up. "Thanks mom, love you." He said going back to sleep. I watched him pull Rebecca closer to his chest as he leaves out a sigh of contentment. The precious girl looked like a baby doll in his strong arms making her smile. I picked up his phone and snapped a picture. It was too cute to pass up.  ... Ben's POV (A few hours later) I woke up to Maya rubbing her head against mine. Making me smile. She was a cute little cat. I laid there not moving; just watching my pretty little red head sleep. She looked so peaceful with her kissable lips just slightly parted as she breathes. Her scent is a field of wildflowers. Her skin was a stunning milky white with faint freckles across her cheeks and nose, her lips were a beautiful fleshy pink that fit my own lips perfectly. Her nose was cute an petite; as her eye brows and lashes were flawless....it doesn't take much to do me in when she bats those long lashes. Her cheeks were had a light rosy tint to each one. This girl never needs makeup. She is absolutely perfect; a natural beauty. Then there's her hair. So thick and long with the perfect shade of red and those wild curls. God love her red curls. Her throat is so delicate along with her neck and shoulders. Her toned body has all the curves in all the right places. Her long arms and legs that went for miles complimented each other. Again, her body was toned flawlessly. She is strong and yet so delicate. I am completely in awe of her beauty.  I gingerly brushed her stray curls away from her gorgeous face. And I started tracing her breathtaking  facial features with my finger tips. How could this breathtaking mythical creature laying next to me bare so much hurt and pain? How could anyone not love her the first time they meet her?  "Ben" she whispered sleepily. "Yes baby doll." I whispered back. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I am admiring my amazing girlfriend's natural beauty. And she's perfect in every way." I cooed at her. "Okay." was all she said as she drifted back off to sleep. She is just too adorable sometimes. I gently kiss her lips before I laid back and watched her sleep. I'm taking her to the beach today and we are going to stop somewhere special beforehand. There is something I need to do. I hope she loves it because she has my heart. I love her. Though we just met, I felt like I have always known her.  I let her sleep for another 30 minutes before I couldn't resist anymore I pulled her into me and started kissing her all over her pretty face. "Baby, wake up" I whispered loudly in between kisses. "I don't want to", she said pulling the covers over her head making me chuckle. "You can't get away from me that easy, Becs." I laugh as I get under the covers with her; kissing her face all over again. She opened her pretty hazel eyes. "Hi" she whispered ever so softly with a tired smile. "Hi" I whispered back gazing into her eyes..I could so get lost in them, especially when they dance. I ran my fingers through her hair as she traced my lips with her fingertips. I kissed them as she did.  "I want to take you somewhere special today." I said softly. "What about school, what time is it anyways?" she asked tiredly. "Our moms called the school saying we won't be in. You need to rest baby doll. And I'm taking care of you." I smiled my Ben Wilder classic at her. "Thank you Ben. For everything. I hope I didn't scare you away. I haven't been that bad in a while." She said with a sad look on her face and her eyes getting teary. "Hey, hey baby." I said starting sit up and scooting closer to her. "I am always here for you, any time. Come here." she sits up and I pull her into my lap and gently press her head into my chest and caressing her legs. "You can never scare me away, Becs. I'm pretty attached to you." I said resting my head on top of hers. "Please don't cry." I pleaded. "I want us to have a good day. I'd like to take you to the beach, but I have somewhere to stop along the way. I'll buy you lunch and we can split a milkshake. Does that sounds good.?" I asked. "A chocolate one, right?" She asked with a  innocent smile making me chuckle. " Of course babe. Today is all about you." I said kissing her head. "Ben, I'm attached to you too." she whispered. "I'm so thankful for that, Becs." I whispered back. "Let's go get cleaned up and ready for the day." I added. She nodded and slid off my lap. I got her setup in the guest bathroom as I used my parents bathroom to get ready.  She was still getting ready when I finished. I knocked on the door, "You can come in, Benny." She said. She was just tucking her fitted t-shirt  in her skinny jeans and buckling her belt as I stepped inside. "You're so beautiful." I said as I stood there just taking her in. She just smiled at me and started putting her light jacket on. "Hold on, Becs. Let me tend to your arms." I said gently. "You don't..." she started to say before I interrupted. "I want to baby. I want to help you heal."  I said as I run my fingers through that gorgeous hair on her gorgeous head. "I want to help you heal on the outside, but most importantly on the inside, baby. Will you let me?" I asked her softly. A look of complete vulnerability filled her hazel eyes. "Ben, you shouldn't have to put up with this." She hung her head low not wanting to look me in the eye, which is so unlike her. She is fearless most of the time. "My mind is pretty f****d up. It's not fair to you." She said slowly trying to steady her voice. I lifted her chin up with my finger, meeting her gaze with a gentle smile. "Rebecca, life hasn't been fair to you. You deserve the best of everything." She tried looking away from me again. I have a feeling she doesn't feel she's worth it. "I have a question but I want you to to be completely honest with me. I promise to do the same, always." She nodded her head. "Do you think you're not worthy of help?" I asked just above a whisper. She took a long moment to answer. "Ben, I know I couldn't prevent that crash or save his life. I know the trauma is still there. I've been through therapy session after therapy session. I let everyone think that was enough, when it wasn't. So I decided to try a different path. To self harm. I can't control what my mind does but I can control my physical pain and it does push away my emotional pain into a hidden corner of my mind. How can I expect anyone to help when I do this.." she holds out her battered arms..."s**t to myself on purpose. So my answer is no. No I am not worthy of anyone's help." She said strongly. The vulnerability left her eyes leaving her emotionless. "I hate that I do this." She sighed to herself, her eyes soften again fighting back tears. I cupped her pretty face with both my hands as she looks up at me. My turn. "Rebecca Sampson, you are worth it my love. You are a precious gem that deserves to be protected and loved. You are worthy to be mended back together and healed. You are right, you couldn't control what happened to you. But you can control how you live your life. Look at how you care for others, especially those who cannot speak up for themselves. I knew you were special the moment I laid eyes on you, Becs And I didn't even see your face yet. As soon as I saw the red head with the crazy curls, I had to meet her. It was like my life depended on it. Hell baby your love and your touch turns me, Ben Wilder known jackass, to mush. Sweetheart, I do not mind helping you at all, any way I can. I want to do it. I will go to the ends of the earth if that meant you becoming whole again. You are truly amazing. You are stronger than you realize. You are worth it, my precious gem." I declared lovingly. "Will you let me put you back together?" I asked searching her eyes. She held her gaze with mine. I see her taking in my words. "I love you Ben. Yes." Was all she said. I smiled at her before giving her a gentle kiss on her lips. I allowed my hands to trace her curves as I reach her hips. I picked her up and set her on the counter. "I'm going to love you through everything Becs, good and bad." I whispered in her ear before getting out the first aid kit. She took me into her arms and just held me there as her head rested on my chest. I wrapped one arm around her back and the other holding her head as I felt her gently tremble. She was crying. I just held her and would continue to do so as long as she needed me too. After a few minutes, she lifted her head. I automatically wipe any remnants of tears from her rosy cheeks and kiss her passionately. I feel her kiss me back with the same passion. We pulled away after a long kiss. "Still a fox even through the tears." I said with a grin to cheer her up. She just shook her had and let out a short laugh. "I'm glad you moved her, Ben." She said pecking my lips. I give her my best smile and took care of her arms and applied fresh bandages but not before kissing each arm. I helped her into her jacket as we made out way to my car in the driveway hand in hand.  The beach was 30 minutes away. It was a beautiful day on the west coast. The drive was filled with laughs and chatter as I tried my best to lift my girl's spirits. "There's the diner, I saw this when were moved. Have you've been here before?" I asked. "Nope, this is my first time here. Looks cute though!" She said cheerfully. It looked like a 50s diner with checkered floors, bar stools at the counter and the jukebox playing all kinds of music. I could tell Becs' loved it. This was her type of place. She tugged on my arm, making me look down at her. "Get the biggest chocolate milkshake they have." She gleefully cheered. Her smile was so cheesy. I couldn't help but chuckle. I love her like this. She was like a little girl in a candy store. I winked at her and then lightly tapped her perfect little nose "cute" I replied. She just smiled and stood on her toes to kiss me on the my cheek.  Becs' POV Ben has been absolutely amazing. The last 24 hours have been a roller coaster ride for both of us. He's seen me at my almost worst and stood by my side. He has defended me, protected me and cared for me. I do not know what I did to deserve his attention. One thing I do know is that I really wasn't mentally ready for him to see what I do to myself, but maybe it was a good thing. Maybe it is what I needed. Maybe I can be better now with his help even when I don't feel worthy of it. I still don't fully understand our love for each other. Its intense and already runs deep. It really was love at first. I have never slept well since the accident. For the first since then, I slept comfortably and peacefully. It was all because I was wrapped in his protective arms. His warmth cascading over my body as his scent filled my senses; relaxing me completely. I felt safe, loved, and at home. Things I have not felt since my dad left this world.  Benjamin Rylie Wilder is my angel. I truly believe my daddy sent him to me. My daddy sent the best man to steal my heart. Ben's POV "Do you want to sit at the counter or a booth babe?" I asked. "Booth is good." She said still looking around at the 50s décor. I let her to a corner booth that was open. She is so relaxed right now. You would have never guessed the type of night she had. We both slid in to the both on opposites sides as the waitress came over. She was a older lady in a teal old school waitress outfit. "Hello my dears, I'm Betty. I'll be your server today. What can I start you off with?" She smiled pleasantly. "The biggest chocolate milkshake you got with 2 straws." I said proudly winking at Becs making her smile at me. "No problem, I'll put that in and give you a few more minutes to look over the menu." She smiled at us.  We had finished our lunch and were walking out of the diner. "The beach is real close, do you just want to walk? We can explore the shops as well." I added. "Sounds perfect, Benny." She purred stopping me from walking any further. I turned to see why she stopped. Before I knew it she had her arms wrapped around my neck and capturing my lips with her lips. I immediately grab her hips and press her into me as I kiss her back. It was a sweet kiss that lasted a few moments. "What was that for?" I asked smiling down at her. "Just for being you." She smiled back before taking my hand and starting to walk again. The jewelry store was a few storefronts down from the diner. I noticed that a pretty gold necklace with a heart shaped locket caught her gaze. For a split second a small smile showed up on her lips, it was like she was remembering a fond memory. I took a mental note. As I placed my hand on the door to the jewelry store, she stopped. She looked up at me with a confused look on her beautiful face causing me to smirk. "Do you have to pick up something for your mom?" She asked suspiciously. "Nope" I smirked at her again. "Ben what are we doing here?" She asked again. "You'll see sweetheart." I said in a sing song voice. "Ben, You don't..." she started. "Ssshhh." I pressed my fingers to her lips. "I want to." I said in a soft voice. "Don't spend your..."She started again but I interrupted. "Hey baby doll, like I said before, I will get you what I want. Money isn't a problem. Come on now." I said pulling open the door and holding it for her to step inside. I took her by her waist and kept her close to me. "Hi there, how can I assist you today?" A cheerful older man said from behind the counter. "I'd like my gorgeous girlfriend here to pick out a promise ring." I said. I could see Becs' looking up at me questioningly from the corner of my eye. I just smirk as she softly jabs my side with her elbow as she smiles. "Wonderful, I have a selection of beautiful rings, please follow me to the counter over here." As soon as Becs' looked at the options in front of her, I notice her eyes to go the same ring that jumped out at me. The gentleman behind the counter had noticed as well. "You two have a brilliant tastes!" He chimed. "This is the Forever promise ring, it is a part of the Forever selection that includes rings for each step of a relationship. They are simple yet elegant. You can have it engraved. And if I may be so bold, it is perfect for the two of you. I see many couples come and go; some make it, many don't. I have a strong feeling you two are meant for one another. Hold on to that, that kind of love rarely exists anymore." He said confidently. "Thank you, sir. I believe you're right." I said somewhat cockily only because I have the most gorgeous girl beside me blushing like crazy. "Thank you." Her voice was so soft. She tightened her grip on my hand. "Miss, here try it on." He said kindly. She slipped it on her finger, perfect fit. I hear her lightly gasp as she looks at it. It's a simple rose gold color band that looks amazing on her hand. "It's perfect Becs." I whispered in her ear. She looked up at me smiling brightly, her beautiful hazel eyes dancing. "We'll take it. I'd like to have it engraved as well." I said. "Brilliant, just brilliant. Please write down exactly what you want engraved." He said handing a paper and pen to me. I feel my girl move closer to see what I'm about to write. I look her with a raised brow.."Can I help you?" I say with a smirk. She squinted her eyes at me for a moment. "Fine." She pouted stepping away making me chuckle. But I called out to her. "Hey Becs, why don't you head to the next store and I'll catch up with you." I said smiling at her pulling her back to me for a quick kiss. "Okay, I love you Ben." She cooed. "I love you too, I'll be right behind you baby doll." I cooed right back. She walked out and headed to the next store. "She is quite unique and beautiful." He commented kindly. "Yes she is. How fast can this be done?" I pointed to my paper. "For you, I will do it right now. Not too often I have a perfect fit for a person." He smiled. "Thank you, Sir. I would also like to purchase the necklace with the heart shaped locket and reserve the rest of the Forever selection. I can put a nice done payment on everything. It's not a problem. That gorgeous red head is worth it." I stated. "Just as luck would have it, that particular necklace is a apart of the Forever selection. I will start the engraving process and begin the transaction." I said cheerfully. I nod my head and look around a bit as he does his job. I am going to give her the best life.  As I walk out the door of the jewelry store, I hear a car tires screech and a woman screaming bloody murder but what made my heart stop was a flash of familiar red hair trying to dodge the car.
