Becs’ POV
Our volleyball team has been undefeated so far along with our football team. Our games are intense and so entertaining to watch. Neither one of use missed any of each other’s game whether they were home or away.
It was the fourth quarter and our team is up 28 points. The rival has yet to score and is getting more and more frustrated by the second. Ben is unstoppable as per usual. The defense decide gang up on him who just blasts through them like nothing. Out of desperation two opponents decided to perform an illegal hit on Ben. My heart stopped when I saw his neck snap back as the one player hit him helmet to helmet with everything he had. Ben’s body collapsed to the ground unmoving. The crowd went silent other than Mrs. Wilder and I screaming his name in pure terror. “BEN!!” We screamed. His parents and I ran to the fence watching the coaches and paramedics surround him. All players took a knee. “Honey, please go to him.” Mrs. Wilder begged her husband. “Please I need to know if my baby is okay.” She hiccupped. “I will darling, he will be just fine. He’s a strong boy.” Mr. Wilder told us to remain at the fence as I held Mrs. Wilder’s crying body. Mr. Wilder hopped the fence and ran towards his son not caring of protocol. I’m trying to stay calm for his mom but the tears won’t stop. My heart won’t settle down. I feel like I’m going to be sick. I watched them take his helmet off and place the neck guard around him. He is completely knocked out. It took both paramedics and 2 of our coaches to move him on the gurney. “s**t, Ben. Wake up.” I whisper to myself. Mr. Wilder jogged back over to us. “They are taking him to the hospital. Darling, we will follow the ambulance. Rebecca, if he responds to anyone it would be you. You go with him in the ambulance. I gave them permission to talk to you about him.” He said out of breath as he took his wife into his arms. I nod and run full tilt towards the ambulance.
“I’m Rebecca Sampson, Mr. Wilder told me to come with you.” I said through tears. “Yes, come on in.” The medic said calmly. “You can sit there.” He said pointing to the bench seat. They secured Ben in the back and took off to the hospital. “His vitals are strong. He will need CT Scan and MRI once he is a at the hospital.” The medic explained. “Can I hold his hand?” I asked quietly. “Sure, you can even try talking to him.” The medic stated as he kept reading his vitals. I slipped my hand into his and lightly squeezed not getting the response I desperately wanted. “Benny, please open your eyes. We need you to wake up.” I spoke softly allowing my tears to flow. “I am scared Ben, please look at me.” I cried. God please help him. I pray silently. Just then I feel his hand tighten around mine. “Benny?” I say looking up at his handsome face. Time stood still when his eyes fluttered opened and made contact with mine own. “Becs. What’s happening?” He said in a daze trying to move. “Its ok, baby. Don’t move. The medic is taking care of you.” I said quickly as both the medic and I try to get him to stop moving around. “You are in a ambulance. You lost consciousness.” I added not taking eyes off of him. “Do you remember anything?” I asked wiping the tears from my eyes. “I was playing football. But everything is hazy.” He said as he winced in pain. “My head hurts.” He sighed. “Its okay, Ben. Just rest. I love you.” I said holding his hand with both of mine. I desperately wanted to caress and hold his face but was afraid to hurt him. “I love you.” He whispered. The medic continued checking his vitals and doing his work. Ben and I just held each other’s gaze the whole ride to the hospital.
“Can she come with me?” Ben asked the ER nurses as they rolled him into the hospital. “We have to do some testing first before family can come back. We will keep her updated.” The nurse assured him. “I’ll be right out here Benny, waiting for you.” I blew him a kiss. He gave me a tired smile as they rolled him away through the double doors. “Please be okay. I need you.” I whispered to myself as I turned towards the waiting area. Just as I find a open chair his parents rush through the doors. “How is he?” Mrs. Wilder called out worriedly. “He’s awake and talking. They are running tests on him now. The nurse said they will keep us updated and tell us when we can go back to him.” I explained as both hugged me tightly. Mr. Wilder led us to the long bench seat and set in between Mrs. Wilder and I to comfort both of us. “How are you doing, Rebecca?” Mr. Wilder asked holding my hand. “I’m okay, a little freaked out but okay. I’m just thankful he’s awake.” I said softly. “He’ll be okay.” Mrs. Wilder chanted. I rested my head on Mr. Wilder’s shoulder. He let go of my hand and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Yes, he will be just fine. He’s a tough kid.” He said firmly. He felt me tremble. “Rebecca, are you sure your okay? I know this is scary.” He whispered knowing just how much Ben means to me and how delicate I can be. I shook my head. I wasn’t okay. “Darling, Rebecca needs us, can you sit on her other side.” He whispered to his wife. Mrs. Wilder came to my side and both of them engulfed me in a hug. She took my face in her hand and pressed her forehead against mine. “Its okay, sweetie. Its okay to feel that way. Don’t hold back your cries or tears.” She whispered wiping the fallen tears away. “Don’t keep it in little one. You are safe with us. We all love you very much.” Mr. Wilder said softly. Their words were full of compassion. “But I’m not the one hurt.” I cried out guiltily. “You should concentrating on Ben.” Their embrace tightened around me. “Ben is being taken care of as we speak. You are just as important Rebecca. The only difference is that we can help you now as the doctors help him.” Mrs. Wilder spoke with a sad smile. Mrs. Wilder and I had a good cry as Mr. Wilder comforted both of us. An hour went by and the doctor finally came out with a update.
“Your son is doing well. Thankfully it is only a mild concussion. All testing came back negative, which is very good. His vitals and motor skills are perfect. He just needs to relax and rest the upcoming days. No strenuous activity, screen time or too much socializing. I would like to follow up with him on Monday and we can revisit any restrictions.” The doctor explained confidently. “Thank you Doctor, when can we see him?” Mr. Wilder spoke up. “You can see him now, just follow me.”
Just as we follow the doctor, our team along with players from the rival team show up for a update. I nodded to Ben’s parents to go to him. “How is he doing, Rebecca?” Carlos asked. “He is okay, thank God. Just a mild concussion. He’s awake and talking.” I said. “We are real sorry.” One player from the opposing team spoke up making my blood boil. “It was you, wasn’t it?” I hissed. “Again, so sorry for everything.” He said looking down. “f**k you and your apology. You did that s**t on purpose. You are lucky Ben wasn’t a smaller player or he could’ve been seriously hurt. You can’t f*****g hit dirty like that. f*****g hell, your asses should be thrown out.” I yell at them in their faces. “Rebecca, calm down. No harm. No foul.” Carlos tried to reason. “What the f**k did you just say to me? No harm, Ben still has a f*****g concussion that could have been avoided if you fuckers would play right instead of having a pissing contest. Get the f**k out of here.” I yelled again. It wasn’t long after that when the wheezing started. I pulled out the inhaler that I actually had on hand for once. No good. f**k. I struggle to breathe as the asthma attack sets in. “Please help, someone.” Carlos shouted not knowing how to help. “Hold on Rebecca. We’ll get a nurse.” He said in a panic. Just then Mr. Wilder walked back out to see what was taking me so long. Ben is asking for me. “Rebecca, where’s your inhaler?” He asked sternly trying to keep calm. “It wasn’t working.” Carlos answered for me. “Come with me, honey. You all can go back and see Ben. He’s in ER room 2B.” Mr. Wilder said taking my hand and leading me to the nurses station. “She is having a asthma attack and her inhaler is not working. What can we do?” Mr. Wilder asked the nurses. “Get oxygen set up now.” One nurse ordered as she took me to a empty room. The made me sit down and put an oxygen mask on and instructed to take deep breaths. Another doctor came in and looked me over as Mr. Wilder stayed right with me. Mr. Wilder handed him my inhaler. “She said it didn’t work. And it’s a new one. Never used yet.” He explained to the doctor. Meanwhile…
Ben’s POV
“Where’s Becs, mom? Thought dad was bringing her right back?” I asked mom. All I wanted was to see her. “I’m sure they are coming son, relax. She was talking to your teammates.” She smiled with relief. Ben was only in his uniform from the waist down. His broad muscular chest exposed for the nurses to drool over. And they did…literally.
A light knock was heard, we the team piled into my room. Becs wasn’t with them. What the hell? “Hey Ben you doing okay?” Carlos asked. “I’m fine. Where’s Rebecca?” I snapped not wanting to deal with these assholes. “Oh, uhh…your dad took her to the nurses station. She had a asthma attack.” Carlos admitted. “What the f**k, why? She hasn’t had one in a long time!” I spit. Something isn’t right. “It was my fault.” The same kid spoke up from earlier. “I upset her when I tried to apologize and she went off on us and lost her breath. Again I am real sorry.” He said timidly. “Fuck.” I go to get up to find her. “Ben, what are you doing? Please lay back down and rest. I am sure she is okay.” Mom tried to reason. But I wasn’t having it. I pulled the heart monitor and pulse sox off and got up. “Move.” I said firmly to the team. f*****g pissed me off.
….
Still in Ben’s hospital room: “Damn, those two are perfect for each other.” The kid said breaking the silence. “Yeah, no one can get in between Ben and Rebecca. Ben is a arrogant ass to everyone except her. As you witnessed, both are extremely protective of each other. It would be best if you leave now. And learn to play with sportsmanlike conduct.” Carlos advised before Mrs. Wilder thanked them for visiting and sent them on their way.
…
First they play dirty and then they go and set off Becs. f*****g assholes. My cleats tap along the floor as I march to the nurses station. “Where is Rebecca? She had a asthma attack.” I demanded. “Sir, you need to lay back down, you shouldn’t be up.” A nurse said coming around the station. “I am fine. Tell me where she’s at and I’ll rest with her.” I hissed. Everyone is pissing me off. “Ben, over here.” Dad calls out from behind me. I hurry into her room and sit on the bed with her. She is still wheezing trying to breath in the oxygen. Mom follows me in after sending the team off. “Its okay baby doll.” I coo in her ear. I adjust how I’m sitting and pull her back into my chest and wrap my arms around her. She automatically matched her breathing to my own and rested her head against my chest. “Ben, you need to lay down. You should’ve never gotten up.” My doctor came in and chastised. “She needed me and I am resting. I won’t overdo anything.” I said through gritted teeth. The doctor went to argue but dad cut him off. “Doctor, he is fine where he is. I will make sure he lays back down soon. You won’t have any luck separating him from her. I will keep an eye on them both.” Dad sternly spoke. I doctor just nodded and placed another heart monitor on me. “Damn its just a mild concussion.” I sighed. “Humor me.” The doctor deadpanned. Just as he turned to leave, Becs’ doctor walked in with a confused look on his face. “Miss. Sampson, you said this was a new inhaler no?” He asked. She nodded yes. “You never used it?” He asked to clarify. This time she removed her mask to answer. “No, today was the first time. Same happened to my last inhaler.” Her voice was hoarse and tired. “Are you her parent or legal guardian?” The doctor asked my dad. “I am not, but I can get her mother on the phone.” Dad answered truthfully. “I’ll be 17 soon. You can talk to me.” Becs spoke up. The doctor sighed. “Please call her and I’ll explain to you both. I do need to ask you three to leave.” The doctor said referring to dad, mom and me. “No, please. They can stay. They know a lot about my medical history anyways.” She said and the doctor nodded. “My baby doll.” I whispered in her ear and kissed her head. She sunk into me in response. “She is not answering.” Dad said. “Its okay, I’ll update her.” Dad said. The doctor nodded and started with his findings. “I tested this inhaler to find out why it wouldn’t work since it was new. Here it was empty. I have a feeling the other one you just complained about was empty too. I put in a complaint to the pharmacy to see why she received 2 empty inhalers. I have prescribed a new one for you. But I will double check it myself to make sure you are given an effective one. Who normally picks up your inhalers? I see that you get them through our own pharmacy here.” The doctor explained. “Dr. Wright.” Becs sighed. Something isn’t right here. “Oh, I didn’t realize he had a daughter.” The doctor acted shocked. “He’s my mom’s husband.” She clarified. “I’ll be sure to let him know directly what is going on. He would want to know about this.” The doctor confirmed. “Please don’t. I will tell both of them. I rarely need the inhalers anyways.” She said tiredly. “Well, I’ll have my notes and discharge instructions that they can go over with you. I know Dr. Wright is a very busy man. One of our best.” He chirped before walking out. “f*****g hell, dad. That asshole is messing with her inhalers.” I hissed talking like Becs isn’t even in the room. I was seeing red. “We don’t know that son.” Dad said calmly. “f**k Tim. I know he is.” I said angrily. “Please Ben, you need to calm down and rest. I’ll talk to my mom about this. Please just rest.” Becs pleaded breathlessly. “Listen to her, Ben. Both of you need rest and to remain calm. We’ll get you both home soon.” Dad said holding mom’s hand. She looked overwhelmed by everything and just kept quiet.
An hour later we were discharged to leave. Lily finally called back and dad gave her the rundown and asked if Becs could stay with us tonight since it was so late. We waited by the entrance as mom and dad went to pull the car around. “And here, I was hoping for a sponge bath from you.” I whispered huskily in her ear. “Ben, stop it.” She groaned hiding her face in my clothed chest. Carlos had brought my duffle bag with my change of clothes. “What, don’t you want to be my sexy nurse.” I teased making her blush. “I see getting hit in the head didn’t change anything.” She sighed. “Nope, never sweetheart.” I said proudly hugging her tight. She honestly looks worse off than I do. I hate that I scared her like that. They pulled up and we both go in the back seat. “What about my car?” I asked. “Your mom and I will pick it up tomorrow at the school.” He replied. “Oh, ok.” I sighed. “It will be safe there Ben. So don’t worry about it.” Mom said. We pulled in front of the house 20 minutes later. We all got cleaned up and ready for bed thankful that today was finally over.
Becs and I were laying in bed facing and holding each other like we normally do. “I hear that you put those guys in their place today.” I smirked with pride knowing how fierce she gets for me. “Those fuckers deserved it. I was so scared Ben. You hit the ground and never moved.” She whispered sadly. “I am so glad you are okay.” She added. “I know baby doll. I’m so sorry I scared you. I am completely fine. I’ll be back to 110% in a few days.” I promised kissing the tip of her cute little nose. “I’m just pissed that those guys upset you. And then that whole inhaler shit.” I said getting frustrated. “Please Ben, not now. We’ll talk about that later. Just be with me right now.” She pleaded softly caressing my face. “All I wanted to do was hold your face in that ambulance. I was so afraid to touch you.” She whispered. “Never be afraid to touch me, baby. I’m not delicate. At all.” I smiled. “I felt you hold my hand and I heard your voice over all the beeps and background noise. I’ll always find my way to you Becs.” I admitted stealing a long gentle kiss from my girl. “I’m not going anywhere Rebecca. You are stuck with me forever and ever and ever and ever and ever…should I keep going?” I teased cheerfully. “Yes.” She grinned sweetly. “As you wish my girl. You have me forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever..” I took a over dramatic big breath and started again…”and ever and ever and ever and ev…” she interrupted by capturing my lips with her lips in another long passionate kiss. We parted ways to catch our breath. “Does that mean I have you forever as well?” I whispered into her lips. “For eternity my handsome boy.” She whispered back. “Good, because you are all mine anyways.” I smile making her smile tiredly in return. “My baby doll. You’re so tired sweet girl. Close your eyes.” I whisper kissing her forehead. She sighed lightly giving in and tucked her head into my chest. She was out like a light within seconds. I just laid there holding her. Not allowing sleep to overtake me. I have to find out what is going with her inhaler. I know that bastard has something to do with it. I swear I saw him smirk when he turned and stuffed her inhaler in his pocket at her volleyball game that one time. I know deep down that asshole enjoys seeing Becs hurt. What a sick fucker. Damn it! I want to just runaway with her. I felt Becs shiver in my arms taking my out of my thoughts. Just as well because I’ll go crazy thinking about it. I pulled the covers higher and just about cove her head. Poor girl is always so cold. I gently rub her arms to help warm her up until I fall asleep.
…
I have sat around and done nothing all day. No tv, no video games, no action. Becs had done her best to keep me entertained and remain low key. And now I can’t sleep. “I want you Becs.” I say grinding my hard on into her. “Ben, no strenuous activity. You need to rest.” She said sternly. Though I see her struggling not to whimper. “But baby, I have been resting all day. I’m bored and horney. How about nice and slow gentle s*x?” I persuade in a whiney tone as she shakes her head. “I need to do something about my little buddy regardless, I much rather have you help me.” I beg giving her my puppy dog eyes as I keep gently grinding into her. “Wilder. What am I going to do with you?” She sighs. “Love me.” I smile my classic smile. “Hey, where are you going?” I ask when she gets up. “I’m helping you. As long as you don’t go overboard.” She said stripping down. “Hot damn I’m a lucky guy.” I kick off my boxers freeing my aching member as she lays back down next to me on her side facing me. “Gentle, handsome.” She reminded me. I grab her leg and place it over my hip as I thrust into her and capture her lips swallowing her moans. We both gently thrust our hips together filling her void completely with my length as low grunts escape my lips. Our kisses are long and sensual. Every thing about our encounter is slow, soft and gentle. Becs left my lips and rested her forehead on mine as we continued thrusting into each other. “This. This is how I want you to put babies in me when the time comes.” She said softly. The love was evident with our actions. “Me too, baby doll. I’m going to put many babies in you just like this. Don’t you worry.” I smiled before overtaking her lips once more. The room was filled with I love yous and low moans of pleasure. We made love half the night before we fell asleep in each other’s arms.
…
I swear my girl is magical. I went to my follow up appointment that following Monday and got a clean bill of health, though I do have to miss Friday’s as per the concussion protocol. But I’ll be on the sidelines as support for the coaches and players. I’ll be back full force the next game. Anyways, Rebecca Everly Sampson has magical powers over me. I swear that night healed the both of us. We truly became one. We completely connected on a whole other level. These high school sweethearts will make the cut, that’s for sure.
