She shook her head, it wasn’t possible, she was miles away from that cave, half a world even! Standing she cleared her eyes as much as she could and looked again.
She was not deceived, this was the entrance to the cave that she had walked out of 139 years ago. Spinning around she took in the scene behind her, and nearly turned away again. The bodies! Oh, how many bodies… she almost felt tears again, but she was too worn out by now for even a drop.
Her breath catching in her throat she looked out over what appeared to be a sea of bodies, and beyond that the actual sea.
She stepped forward, one step, then two, looking searching for what she didn’t know, and then she did. There, on the horizon she saw it, Hightown. Then she realized how wrong she had been. She had traveled all over the world to escape this place and what it meant, and the whole time she had been circling back around to it.
Looking down at the ground she recognized the bodies, at various stages of rot, to be slaves. Hightown slaves. Nodding to herself she knew that this was where the bodies from the slave town washed up after being thrown lifeless into the sea.
Chuckling to herself she wondered how messed up the powers that be were, to throw her back to this place, where her life had ended. Liandra nodded once more and then turned to the cave, she didn’t know why she had ended up here but she was going to retrieve the one thing that she should never have given up, she was going to get Storm-Weaver.
