Learning basic spells was quite fun. It required me to use my magical vision, copying the loops and threads I saw. Oh, it could be done without vision too, as most mages did, blindly doing the movements, trying many times until they got it right. But I didn't have to. Besides, once I practiced enough, I could do it with normal vision, just repeating the same steps. My spells were still overpowered, using way more energy than necessary, but it was fine, because of their simplicity. Simple spells are more resilient to details like that.
