AVA
Been locked in here for days without food nor water, it felt like I've been abandoned. Logan truly was upset with me.
A day before, I heard mom’s wailing voice, pleading to let her see her daughter but Logan’s men refused.
My throat had gone dry from my constant crying and body weak from the banging. I sat on the floor, staring aimlessly into space. I coughed out but it was dry. My saliva couldn't even form in my mouth.
The creaking of the door made me sit up with all the strength in me. Ruby came rushing in, engulfing me into a tight hug.
“Ru..by.” My voice came, like a whisper.
“It’s alright, I'm here.” She whispered back, huging me as she stroked my hair.
Few moments of silence passed us by before she finally disengaged from the hug. With the help of a guard, slowly lifting me up from the floor, and unto his arm. He carried me to my room. I had lost all strength to ask questions.
Ruby carried me into the bathroom, undressed me and placed me into the bathtub. Mom walked in minutes later, her eyes swollen from the constant crying.
I stared at them, words lost in my mouth, I could only gawk at them.
Mom washed me up, and with Ruby's help, I was carried back to my room.
“I miss the good old days.” Mom’s voice cracked as she dried my hair. “When I'd blow-dry your hair and we gossip about Caleb and other boys.” She chuckled as she leaned forward, placing a kiss on my forehead.
The door opened and one of the servant walked in with a tray of food. She placed it properly on the table, bowing before walking out.
“Come have something, you must be hungry?” Ruby smiled, pushing the food towards me.
I ate the fries quietly as mom and Ruby watched, mom sighing at any slightest thing I do. I wanted to smile at her and tell her just I was okay, I wanted to hold her hand and wipe the tears that were planing on falling from her eyes.
I turned my face back to the food and ate, each bite adding little strength in me.
About thirty minutes later, i was done eating. I lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Mom and Ruby had left the room after tucking me to sleep. I turned to the left side of the bed as my eyelids slowly began to close, sleep was around the corner.
(BLACKWOOD PACK, XAVIER'S ROOM)
XAVIER
I groaned, sitting up on the bed. My back was hurting so much.
“Glad to finally see you awake.” Selene's cheerful voice rang as she walked into the room.
“You can't possibly leave without me.” I smiled faintly, staring at her. “How long have I been out?” I asked, adjusting on the bed.
“Three days.” She said, taking a sit next to the bed. “Thought you weren't going to make it.”
“Where’s Ethan?” I asked staring around the room.
“Thought you wouldn't ask.” A scoff escaped her lips. “Your beta hasn't been seen anywhere close to the park for the past three days.” She said.
My stomach twisted, it felt like something sharper than Logan's sword had pierced through it.
“Maybe he had some business to attend to.” I replied, avoiding her gaze.
A slight chuckle escaped her lips as she stood up and walked towards the door. “We both know that there's no other business that is more important to a wolf than the health of his Alpha. I hope you realise what Ethan is actually doing before it becomes too late.” She spoke, her voice calm but sounded as a warning.
I stood up from the bed, walking over to the wine cellar and poured myself a little whiskey. I winced quietly as the hotness hit my throat. “That hurts.”
I didn't know which one hurt the most, Selene's words or the hotness of the whiskey. Her words had hit a vital point in my heart. I limped over to the nightstand, picked up my phone. I dialed Ethan's number but he wasn't answering. My chest burned, I clutched tightly to it, Selene's words shouldn't be true.
I limped, hand rested on my chest as I walked down the hallway and into Ethan’s room. It was quite and cold as though no one had ever been there. Enraged, I walked into the field, my men were training, but there was no sign of him.
I felt my head swell up, my vision was beginning to get blurry. I placed my hand on my head but it seemed like the earth was about to swallow me in. Suddenly, I felt my body begin to go low, halfway into the fall, a strong pair of hands caught me.
“Are you okay, Alpha?” His voice rang, sharp, enough for me to hear.
I strained my eyes, standing back on my feet as I stared into his boring eyes. “Ethan?”
He smiled, eyes staring into mine. He knelt down, handing his sword to me.
“Alpha, let me die by my sword.” He spoke like a nobleman. “For I have wronged you. I ought to have being by your side but I cowardly ran.”
“Quit with the pretense Ethan.” Selene's voice echoed as she matched into the field, I hands crossed against her chest.
Ethan stared up at me, that brotherly love encircling me. I saw the truth in his eyes but Selene stood her ground. I breathed out heavily, my eyes roaming around the piercing gaze of my men who were waiting for their Alpha's judgement.
“Xavier?” Selene called, taking the sword from Ethan. “You would do your pack good if you behead this traitor right now and end things here.” The crowd erupted into an uproar as they whispered amongst themselves, each face laced in confusion.
“How strict you've become, sister.” A voice spoke from the crowd. “Hello, Brother!” I froze, I would forever remember that voice anywhere. A chill crawled up my spine, panic gripped onto me as hot beads of sweats trailed down. Slowly I tilted my head, my heart throbbing rapidly as he stood, tall and huge with a huge smirk
tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Alec”
