AVA
My legs felt felt heavy, chest rising and falling, heart throbbing so hard that it echo could be heard. I ran towards the infirmary, I wanted to truly confirm what Ruby had said.
I burst through the door, breathless, hands clutching to my chest. I looked around, but it was empty. No human, no one. I ran into the restroom but yet, still the same.
“Caleb!” I called, my voice breaking.
“Caleb!!” I cried, crouching on the floor. Ruby rushed in, embracing me. I cried in her arms as she consoled me.
“He was here, Ruby. I can smell him.” I wailed, Ruby held unto me never letting go.
Slowly, I stood up, body numb but i didn't care. I walked out of the infirmary, down to the field. I continued to walk, unsure of where I was running to. I had only one thought.___ to find my best friend.
Ruby shouted after me but I didn't give her a listening ear. Soon I was on my heels, running through the pack gate and into the woods. My legs moved so fast, making it hard for Ruby to catch up.
I finally stopped when I felt something within me twitching, subtle enough that I thought it was just my nerve. Then the pain came, ripping and swearing, my bones feeling like it was about to pop out. I winced as I fell on the floor, but the pain was still there. The pain surged through me, I clutched onto my stomach as I knelt on the floor, then my hands began to twitch, I let out a low cry. I stared at my fingers as long nails began to grow. I could feel my heartbeat throbbing heavily, the cool night breeze did no good to the surging pain. My back cracked and I felt something rip out of my clothes, my knees bent backwards as hairs began to sprout out.
My spine ached, bones snapping and cracking. I felt my body hit the floor as i began to tremble, my voice fading but something else was stuck in my throat. My jaw cracked open, a slight scream escaping and instead of teeth, fangs grew out, long and sharp. The hairs that had become furs began to take over my body completely, overtaking the human I once was. Standing on all fours was now I creature I dreaded so much but yet destined to become. My red eyes glowed under the crescent moon. Then it came, the growl, heavy and loud as thunder, I howled, loud enough under the moonlight. It wasn't just a howl, it was a wolf's roar. And with a little wince, I fell to the floor, my body weak as it embraced the darkness fully.
XAVIER
I stood up hastily, running outside to, I met Ethan, Selene and most of the palace wolves outside, all staring at the moon. We had all heard the howl. It was sharp like thunder, holding beneath it unspoken words.
“Whose howl could that be?” Selene asked, eyes glittering in the moonlight. I huffed out, staring ahead. “I am as well shocked as you are.”
I walked back into my chamber with Ethan following behind. He sat on the couch, while I walked towards the cellar, bringing out a new rum. I offered him a glass and he gulped it down once.
“Any idea?” He asked staring at me.
“I wish I knew but it hit something within me but I can't place my hands on it.” I replied, sipping from my drink. I was in the shower earlier, when I heard the howl. But something within me shifted, Isaiah snapped as well but I couldn't fathom what it was. This was the first of it's kind, a howl so loud that it sounded almost like a roar. It held much power, control and authority. Growing up as a kid before the pack war, I've heard stories about a wolf that had the strongest howl, so powerful that it could move mountains.
“You okay?” Ethan asked, eyes glaring into mine. “Just lost in thought.” I said.
Only the moon goddess had the answers to all.
LOGAN
I stared up at the moon, I had heard the loud howl. It was strong enough to had broken a sculpture in the council meeting room.
“Is everyone alright?” I shouted through the huge crowd that had gathered at my place. The guards went around to confirm if there were any casualties. I searched around but I couldn't find Ava, shouldn't she be curious to know what had made such sound. I hadn't spoken to her ever since I woke up this morning and I haven't seen her yet.
“They’re all good, Alpha.” A guard reported back to me, drawing my attention back to the crescent moon. Wolfs only howled twice. If they are in danger or when it was the full moon. But it wasn't the full moon yet and that howl wasn't that of a wolf in danger. It was mighty. My heart ached when I heard it, I wanted to know what it was and why it was having a strong effect on me.
“Dismiss the people, tell them all is well.” I instructed before stepping into my room. The cool evening breeze swinging by, carrying so much on it's way.
I crept into my bed, face staring at the ceiling as I ponderd on the howl. Was that a sign, were things about to change.
SELENE POV
I was curious, I had to find out what the howl was all about. I left my room and into the dark night, walking alone through the streets, covered in a simple wear so as not to be noticed by the guards who were on duty. There was only one person in the kingdom who had the answers to all I wanted.
Standing directly infront of his house, I tapped on the door lightly as it creeked open.
I walked in and was met with darkness except from a little candlelight at the corner of the room.
“I thought you weren't going to come, Luna.” His voice old, yet holding so much mystery rang behind me.
