The first war

XAVIER The door flung open as Ethan came rushing in, breathing heavily. I jumped out of my bed, walking towards him. “What is it?” i asked, staring at him. “Dark moon park, they're here.” His words rang in my ear. At such an ungodly hour, Logan was in my territory. Sliding into a more decent cloth, I brought out my sword, running towards the city. If Logan was truly here, then it must not be for peace. “Xavier!!” He screamed loudly, tossing the head of one of my pack member to my feet. I stared up at him, face twitched into a scowl. “You have crossed the battle line Xavier.” He spoke, coming down from his horse. “By touching my mate, you had committed the greatest sin.” “Oh please, enough with the gibberish.” I thunderd, walking forward. “Ava is equally my mate and I have the right to do whatsoever that I deem fit.” I saw his eyes flicker for a moment, staring around. “This is a war meant for only us two, but you decide to act like a kid you are and take it upon my people.” I smirked, standing in his front. “You call me a kid Xavier.” He let out a chuckle. “Between the both of us, who should be called a kid?” He asked, eyes boring into mine. “You should reply the question yourself. A rightfully crowned Alpha or a rogue who sees himself as an Alpha.” I spat, glaring back at him with a smirk on my face. He clenched his fist tightly around his sword, his eyes roaming around and with a sudden movement, as fast as a bullet from a gun, he lunged his sword towards me but I was fast enough to block it. “I see, you've been training.” He smirked as our faces were close, hot breaths fanning against eachother. “Been training.” I smiled, breaking loose from the entanglement as I lunged forward with my sword, slashing at him but he was quick to duck. Sounds erupted behind me, I stood, staring at the mess that was about to befall my pack. We were taken unawares, the enemy had attacked while we slept. My men came unprepared but gave it all they had, I was loosing large number of my men. Pain and defeat surged through me, this wasn't the promise I had made to my father. The pack he built was about to fall. I felt a something pierce through me from the back, slowly I tilted my head and there stood Logan with a huge smirk on his face. I stared down at where he had hit me, his sword was slide deep into my back, tiny droplet of blood dripped down. I staggered backwards as he pulled it out, flinging the sword as he lunged towards me, aiming for my heart. I shut my eyes, as the pain from earlier surged through me. “I hate being disturbed when I'm asleep.” I heard that angelic voice which on a normal day I would find it as disturbing. I slowing opened my eyes and there was Selene, hands around Logan's neck as her other dagger was pointed towards his rib area. “How do you feel attacking your enemy from behind huh?” She smirked, staring around the field, putting all men on hold. “You rode all the way from your pack at night and into another man's territory all in the name of war.” Her voice ringing aloud. “Only a weak man does that. You call yourself an alpha but you are no good than a rogue.” I smiled faintly watching her speak. She takes exactly after our father. Strong at heart and was ready to lay her life for her people. “Just a little cut here would leaving you begging for your life.” She smiled, placing the sword on his throat. She pushed him off, pointing the dagger at him. “I didn't get the title of best warrior for no reason Logan.” She sneered at him, circling around him. “Take your men back and come to war at the appropriate time. Come to war as as an Alpha and not as a rogue.” Logan growled, moving backwards and limping unto his horse. “I would be back Xavier, be prepared.” And with that, he hoped out, his men trailing behind him. Selene stood, shoulders held high as she stared around the field. “Take the injured to the infirmary to get treated and the dead buried. Tomorrow we console the families of the dead.” She walked towards me as I fell into her arms, a smile on my face as I reached for her hair, gently stroking it. “You’re just like father.” A tear slipped out of her eyes as she smiled. “You’re not going to die in my hands.” She spoke, her voice almost like a whisper. “Atleast not yet.” I smiled faintly, succumbing into the looming darkness. SELENE'S POV I paced around my room, body trembling as my eyes darkened. If anything should happen to Xavier, I promise Logan and his men would never go free. I had to use all the energy in me to pretend that I wasn't scared but deep down, I feared for the worst. I should have listened to my gut when I had the feeling that danger was looming. Emelia walked in. She was the one that had brought the news to me that Logan and his men were in our territory. “How many men did we loose?” I asked, staring blankly at her. “Twenty injured and nine dead. We lost two pack elders.” She reported. I fell on the couch, pain surged through me. “And where was Ethan when all this happened?” “He had reported the fight to the Alpha but after that, he was not in sight. No where close to the war ground.” My jaw clenched tightly, I stood up, pacing round the room with my hands crossed. “Get Ethan here, find him!” My voice loud and clear, enough to bring down t he building. “He has answers to give.”
