AVA
We stayed at the stable for over few hours and I was beginning to get bored.
“Ruby?” I whined as I fed carrots to Micha.
“I’m almost done here.” she replied, “Just give me a sec.” I huffed loudly as she washed up the buckets she used.
Few minutes later, she was done and we walked out.
“Finally.” I groaned happily. “Do you do this all day?”
“Yes and No.” She grinned. “Most times I do them and when I don't feel like, I run away.”
“Don’t you get punished?”
“Of course I do. But hey” She snapped, “I don't care.”
I shaked my head in disbelief as I stared at my new found friend.
What have I gotten myself into.
“So,” I began, “Tell me about werewolves and the war.”
“It’s gonna be a long ride.” She teased and I let out a light chuckle. “I ain't going anywhere.”
“Werewolves are a breed of beings that are always seen as supernatural beings due to our powers, such as Strength, speed and hearing.” There are different kinds of werewolves. The Alpha who is the leader of the pack, the Luna, his queen or someone similar to the Alpha. The beta who are knights and warriors and the last, the Omegas. They are the inferior ones and are often seen as the low lifes. And of course, there's always the Lycan. It's seen as the Head of all Alpha's.”
“So what are you?” I inquired staring at her.
“An omega.” she replied back, her voice laced with a tint of pain. “How?” I asked.
She chuckled as she furrowed her brows at me. “Really?, You're asking me how I became an Omega.” I realised I had just asked the stupidest question.
“Sorry.” I blurted out innocently. “How do i know what type of wolf I am?”
“The moon goddess will say it herself.”
“Who is that?” I asked.
“She’s more like a god.” I nodded and kept quiet.
“In being a werewolf, there are ups and downs. A disadvantage is that we go into something called a rut or heat.” She continued and I furrowed my brows at her.
“It’s when you need your mates touch.” She said staring at me. “Sexually?” I asked.
“Exactly.” She said giggling. She continued to explain other stuffs as we walked ahead.
“We’re here.” She announced spreading her hands out. I glanced up at the place and back at her, raising an eyebrow.
“It’s a prison yard. We're here to serve the prisoners.” she explained stepping forward.
“Common.” She said dragging me in.
CALEB
I sat quietly on the bare floor, not to disturb the guards. I wasn't the only one in the cell. They were some other men who were brought in every day and some others that were already here before I came.
We were four in a room, I sat at the far end of the room trying not to indulge myself in any conversations with my cell mates.
“Hey.” A tiny voice said to me. I tilted my head in the direction. A slim boy who seems to be a little bit older stood before me as she stared at me. His face void of any emotion. He had different marks on his bare chest and some sought of tattoo on his chest.
I stared down and pretended like I didn't hear him but he called again.
“You can't continue to ignore me, you know?” He grinned and I scoffed at him.
“What do you want?”
“That’s much better.” He smiled and sat close to me. “You do not seem like you're from here. I've been staring at you since you first arrived here and you seem to have lots of questions.”
I stared at the slim human boy who was kneeling watching me, observing my reaction towards what he had just said. I can't trust him all of a sudden, I needed to know few things before I can tell him anything about me.
I turned back to him and he scoffed at me.
“What?” I snapped at him.
“Why is your heart beating so fast. What are you scared of?”
“What do you mean, how can you hear my heartbeat?” I asked and immediately, he shifted away from me.
“A human?” he whispered but I could make out what he had just said from reading his lips.
He scurried over to where I was after staying silent for some minutes.
“You’re a human?” He asked and I glared at him. “What sort of question is that?”
“I see.” He smirked, nodding his head at me.
“Welcome to the pack!” He screamed, earning glares from other cell members.
“What do you mean?” I asked with a raised brow. I was beginning to feel that there was more he knew. Why would he ask me if I was a human. Does that mean, I was in a wolf Kingdom.
“f**k no.” I muttered as it dawned on me.
Mr Logan was a wolf and Ava did say something about wolves.
I stood up briskly and hurried over to the boy.
“Where is this? Where am I?” I held unto his arm.
“Pretty human boy. I knew there was something off about you. A wolf doesn't get scared easily the way you do. It makes sense now.” He grined widely at me.
“Shut it.” The guard said, hitting hitting on the bars. I went back to my usual spot and sat down, facing the boy who was smirking at me.
He was probably the answer I was looking for. He had answers to my questions, I have to get close to him.
“Ruby wait up.” I heard that familiar voice. The Voice that I've longed to hear for that past two weeks. My first love and best friend ___Ava.
I stood up and stretched my head and there she was smiling, giggling at someone who I couldn't see properly.
She was serving food to the other cell, I waited patiently for her to get here but one of the guards whispered into her eyes and she dropped what she held and walked out with him.
“Ava!” I screamed.
I stared out, holding unto the bars, waiting patiently for her.
