AVA I halted in my tracks, unsure of what I heard. A voice, sharp but loud enough for me to hear. My head tilted towards the direction, but nothing. The guard who had come to call me earlier, nudged Me forward to move. “Sorry.” I muttered, shrugging my shoulder and walked out. With gentle taps, I knocked on his door waiting for his reply before I would step in. While serving the prisoners, one of the soldiers had come to inform me that I was being summoned by Logan. “Open.” I heard and slowly pushing the door before walking in. A shiver ran through my spine, my heartbeat hammered loudly than the sounds coming from the cheering voice of the soldiers who were engaged in a friendly combat between themselves. “Ava.” He called, his voice husky as he stared up at me, his stare lingered, brief but dangerous. “You asked for me.” I stuttered, as the hairs on my body stood up. My mind raced to the event that happened between us few days ago. My cheeks began to heat up slowly in embarrassment. He strode towards me and lifted my chin to meet his Hazel eyes. He smirked, like he knew the thoughts I shouldn't be having. “Don’t be nervous, I'm not touching you.” He left my chin and walked over to the sofa and sat on it. “Common, we have a lot to talk about. “Drink?” He offered but I rejected. I wasn't going to get drunk while with him. “More for me then.” He smiled and gulped down the contents. “I hear you're trying out for Archery.” He asked staring at me. “Yes.” “I see.” He nodded, glaring intensely at me. His stares, hiding a lot of secrets. “What do you know about your father?” I looked up at him, my brows furrowed. Why the sudden question. “I... Don't really know much.” I stuttered, “Mom only said he was a werewolf, she never liked saying anything about him.” He hummed in response and stood up, he walked towards the door, turned his head back at me, “Be a good girl Ava, that would be all, for now.” The slamming of the door made me to shudder. I stood up and left the room, his question about Father continued to linger in my head. I had to ask mom, if Logan asks about father all of a sudden, that means he knows something. And mom would know it as well. I walked into mom's room and met her knitting. Mom was a lover of wools, she loved to knit. Back at home, mom always made matching cardigans for I and Caleb. “Hey sweetheart.” She called, noticing my presence. I scurried over to her, giving her a slight hug and sat down on the floor. “What have you been upto lately?” She asked, “You’re rarely seen.” “I’ve been in my room most of the times and then with Ruby.” I explained. “Mom?” I shifted towards her, tugging at her skirt. “Is there something about dad you haven't told me about?” The knitting pin fell of her hands as she stared up at me. I could see the suprise in her face. Sweats began to form on her forehead, “Mom, are you okay?” I touched her. She yanked my hand away forcefully. “Why the question, why are you asking me about your father, Ava.” She asked through gritted teeth. “I just wanted to know, Logan asked me about him earlier and I figured that he might know something.” “Alpha Logan?” She asked, furrowing her brows and I nodded. Her breathing came back to normal and she wiped the sweats off her face. “Ava.” She whispered, loud enough for me to hear. “I have a feeling that things aren't going to be as they were. If Logan is inquiring about your father, then he must be up to something.” “Mom, you're scaring me.” I muttered, quivering. “I might not know a lot about your father, but there is someone who would know.” She continued. “Who?” She huffed out as she leaned in closer, “Lucas Reed.” I raised my brow at her, trying to understand what she said. “Who is that?” “Your uncle. He should know about your father.” “So where is he?” She strode over to the window and looked outside, crossing her hands in-between. “Over there.” I walked up to her and stared at where she had pointed, I let out a loud gasp and moved backwards. “Blackwood Pack.” “Yes, if you wish to find answers, you need to find him.” _____________________ I rolled over on the bed as mom's words rang in my head. I had an uncle who probably knows a lot about I and dad. How was I going to contact him, in a land I can't freely walk in. Going to the Blackwood pack means disobeying Logan's rule. And if I decide to go, how would I find him, I have no idea what he looked like. I groaned and stood up from the bed, sleep was far from my eyes. I walked over to the table at the other part of the room, poured myself a glass of water and gulped it down. I spun around in a flash, I heard my name. It came as a whisper, like though the wind had carried it. I scanned the room but there was nothing there. “Ava.” I heard again. The voice sounded familiar then I heard a little grumble. “Are you really a deep sleeper?” I chuckled slightly at the voice. I opened the door and there she stood, her hand on her hair. “Ruby.” I whispered with a smile. She groaned heavily and pushed me aside, walking into my room, she slumped on the bed. “I’m spending the night in your room.” She said, wriggling on the bed. “Why?” I uttered, unsure as to why she was here. “I wasn't planning on telling you, I wanted you to tell me yourself.” I gave her a look that she could easily read. I didn't understand what she was saying. “We’re going to find your uncle, Ava.”
