AVA
Tired and soaked with my own sweat, I dragged my feet towards the motel where Ruby was already waiting. It was already nightfall, I could barely see where I was going.
“Hey!” Ruby called, running towards me. “Are you okay? Where have you been?”
“I lost my way here, I'm sorry.” I pleaded, trying to catch my breath. “Well, did you find him?” she asked but I waved my head. She sighed and placed her hands on her hips, “Same here.”
We stayed on our position for five minutes before we began our journey back to the pack. We ought to be with the pack before curfew, I already know that Logan would have suspected my absence. I was ready for whatever plan he had.
“Ava, be quick.” Ruby whispered to me as we climbed the pack gate. It was already locked before we arrived.
Successfully, we scaled through the huge gate and made a run into the city. We went our separate ways as we successfully entered the pack.
Slowly, I tiptoed into the huge building, trying not to make any sound, everyone was probably asleep by now.
I turned my door knob, and silently entered into my room. I huffed out and crouched on the floor.
“Where have you been, Ava?” His voice pierced through the darkness of the room as he stepped forward towards me, shining a bright light on my face. His face was void of any emotion as he stared at me. Silence fell upon the room, the only sound that was heard, was the heavy pounding of my heartbeat.
I stood up from the floor and shifted away from him but he turned to my direction, still glaring at me. There were moments you regret before they even happen, this was one of them.
“Ava?” He called again, his voice low but heavy. “I hate repeating myself.” He said walking towards me, his footsteps echoing in the silence.
“I...ru...Ruby,” I stuttered as I clasped my sweaty palms against eachother other. “Yes, I was with Ruby, we...I was helping her with work, you can ask her.”
He came to my front and leaned forward, his gaze on me, never leaving. “I want to believe you Ava.” he whispered, “But I can't.” I froze on the spot, what would he do, if he finds out that I was lying.
He leaned backwards, his hands behind him as a smirk formed on his face. He patted my hair as he stood tall, tugging a strand of hair behind my ears. “Let’s hope for your sake, you're telling the truth.” He planted a soft kiss on my lips before walking out of the room.
I breathed out as he left the room, I thought he wasn't going to believe me. I prayed silently, hoping that Ruby would cover up for me when asked.
The freezing water in the bathtub hit my body like a pile of snow had been thrown towards me as my body reacted to it. I shut my eyes as the memories about what had happened at the blackwood pack came flashing in my head.
Flashback to few hours ago at the Blackwood pack.
“The moon goddess has brought you both together for a time like this.” The man smiled, walking towards were I stood with Selene and her men.
“You both seek answers and I have them.” He tilted his head to me, “Come along.” He began walking away, “Only you both.” He warned, not sparing a glance at us. I was unsure if I should go with the man, but Selene made the first move and I trailed behind her.'
“Welcome.” He said smiling, gesturing us into that old building. Faded armchairs sat at the corner of the room, standing next to the window were two pots of the peace lily flower, blooming brightly, the air was thick, filled with the scent of old books, stacked on the old dilapidated wooden shelf. The house seemed to have come alive as we stepped into it, holding lots of untold tales and secrets.
“Tea?” He asked pouring into a tea cup which I hadn't noticed earlier, sitting on the cracked table that looked like it was going to break off if given any slight push.
“Thanks.” I muttered lowly, taking the cup from him.
He sat down on the old sofa, it's fabrics worn out from years of stretching.
“Ava?” He called staring at me. His stare held so many untold words, “You’ve grown into a fine young lady.”
“Have we met somewhere?” I asked, staring back at him as he flashed me a smile.
“Oh, where are my manners,” he chuckled lightly. “Lucas Reed, your uncle.” I widened my eyes and gently stood up from the chair, reading into the man's face, he wasn't lying.
“I knew you were coming. Now sit, I have something to tell you both.” he said, his eyes staring down at Selene, who sat silent, watching us.
He cleard his throat as he began.
“Eighteen years ago, two weeks before you, Ava, was born. Your father came, confiding in me that had made a promise which he can't be able to fulfill. He had gone to the moon goddess, seeking that your mother, a human shouldn't die during child birth. Humans normally, do not survive while giving birth to wolves. He offered that he would do anything just for the moon goddess to answer him.
The night of your birth, it was heavy, unusual thunderstorm, struck the pack territory. We thought your mother wasn't going to survive but as fate would have it, a sound of a little wolfling was heard. You were born.
Two days after your birth, a prophecy came to I and the elders of the pack. A prophecy that felt heavy and impossible to believe.
“A human shall bear the mark of two Alphas of two strong packs. Her coming would cause chaos between packs and leaders but she will be her saviour. A saviour to reunite both packs, her decision lies in her hands.”
He coughed out, as he stood up and walked towards the window, inhaling the fresh air that came with the evening.
“And how am I part of this?” Selene asked, glaring at me. I was lost in my own thoughts, trying to understand what the prophecy was hinting at.
“You my dear Selene, Luna of the greatest pack to ever be, queen of wisdom and saviour to many. It was inscribed in the prophecy that the greatest Luna of our time would walk alongside the human, offering guidance to her. You are to fight together, you both are a team.” He stood, eyes darting from Selene to I.
“Your decision lies within you.”
