Chapter 6

AMETHIA I had finally cleaned the house back to an acceptable state after arriving home. Somehow cleaning kept my mind off of everything. Especially off of the things I really didn't want to think about right now. Luckily the house was covered in dust, so I had a lot to clean. Ah the joys of having been empty for over a month. I also had to clean out the fridge since we'd left so abruptly, but after opening it and smelling the horrific rot, I decided that I'd wait until tomorrow to tackle that bad boy. I was making myself a small dinner on the stove when I heard the doorbell. Confused, I walked to our entry way to see who was already visiting me less than one day after I'd left the pack house. I assumed it to be Laila, so imagine my shock when I see the oh-so beautiful Ithalia standing in front of me. I freeze like I did every single time I came in contact with her. I didn't know what to say. Did she know what was going on? Did Narien say something to her about me? "Hey," she smiled. "Do you mind if I come in for a bit?" "U-uh yeah, sure." I stuttered. "What brings you out here?" She shuts the door behind her. "Oh, I was just out in the area. Thought I'd come see my friend and check in on how she's doing finally being alone in her old house." Friend. She'd called me her friend and she seemed genuine in her words. I walked back to the kitchen where the water was boiling for my mac n cheese before replying to her. "Well, that's nice of you. But it's really uneventful, I swear." She laughed following behind me. "You left so abruptly, I wondered if there was something special about this place." "Just special to me," I smiled sweetly back at her. Ithalia smiled in response as she walked around the small kitchen. "Would you like something to eat?" I asked her. "I would love something," she said in response. "Ah, okay. Give me a moment I wasn't prepared to cook for a Werewolf." I said shuffling towards the cabinets where we keep our non-perishables. Ithalia shook her head. "It's alright Amethia, I'll just have whatever you're not going to eat. I'll eat when I get back home with Narien." I felt my heart ping at his name but I nodded in response anyways. I took less than half of the one mac n cheese box I'd made and served the remainder to Ithalia. She thanked me graciously and we ate our food in silence. It wasn't much longer until she finished eating and was already standing once more. She then dug in her pocket and found a cigarette. It wasn't until I approached that I realized it wasn't a cigarette, but instead a joint. "Wanna smoke a bit before I leave?" She asked with a devious grin on her face. It wasn't illegal here, but it was never something I'd considered doing until now. I nodded my head slowly as my feet carried me towards the back door. We stood outside without shoes on as Ithalia lit the thing, took a drag, and then passed it to me. I breathed in and immediately began coughing. "Alright, that's enough for you." She quickly took it back and took one last puff before butting it out. "I'll save the rest for another day." She mumbled, putting it back into her pocket. "How're you feeling? You ever smoked before?" She asked. I shook my head, feeling the back of my throat burn. "I feel a little woozy." I confessed, trying to stand up straight. "Perfect," she said. I looked at her, my vision spinning. "What do you mean by that?" Her smile suddenly became evil and sinister as she turned to face me. Suddenly she had me by the neck and against the outside wall of my house. "Now you won't be able to fight back or run away," she said, her eyes darkening. "What?" I asked, scared out of my mind. Ithalia opened the door and threw me with all of her might inside. I slid across the floor and into the wall with a loud thud. "I'm going to make you regret ever coming to that pack house." It suddenly clicked in my head. She must know and now she made me feel at ease in order to make me weak like I was now. Ithalia shut the door behind her as she entered my hosue and stood over me menacingly. She picked me up from the ground by the collar on my shirt and wound one arm up to punch me. I closed my eyes in anticipation of the impact, but it never came. Instead I was suddenly released and now a wolf stood before me, pinning down Ithalia's arms. She struggled against the wolf's pressure as best as she could, but nothing was working. Another wolf then burst in and grabbed her in his teeth. Ithalia screamed bloody murder but I knew that she was alright. I'd seen members of the pack carried in the jowls of wolves before without injury. She then screamed at the first wolf that had held her down. "You should be with me, not that disgusting little human!" She thrashed her arms and legs with every word she said. The other wolf then took off before she could say another word. It suddenly clicked to me who the wolf in front of me was. Narien. I backed away slowly as he shifted back to his human form. He then grabbed me and pulled me into a deep hug. "I'm so glad you're okay." I felt tears well up in my eyes. For a split second, I really thought I was about to get the s**t kicked out of me but Narien showed up just in time to save me, to protect me. I cried out ugly tears as I grabbed him back and smooshed my face into his chest. With each sob I gave out I could feel him hold me tighter and tighter. Finally I calmed down and Narien released me. At some point during my breakdown Narien had led me to my bedroom and he'd sat me on his bed while he knelt in front of me. I also knew that my smoke earlier had helped with that too. "I don't understand..." I spoke softly. "Did you tell her?" Narien hummed before nodding once. "I had to. I can't fathom the thought of being with a woman who isn't you." I turned my head away at his words. "I'm sorry I'm the weakest possible person to exist." "Don't say that," he said. "It hurts to hear you speak negatively about yourself." I nodded my head at his words. I then met his gaze once more and smiled at him. "Thank you for saving me." He pulled our heads together and I felt the sparks when we made contact with our foreheads. "Anything for my mate." I blushed. Suddenly I enjoyed the idea of being with Narien. I longed to be by his side and to hold his hand. We pressed our lips together and I felt my body swell with nothing but longing and desire for the boy in front of me. I wanted to give in and let him take me back to his home, to keep me under his watchful eye. I longed for a life together when once again I realized what was happening to me. I pushed away but Narien was the first to say anything. "Right right, I shouldn't have done that. My bad." "D-Darn right!" I struggled to make out. "Alright there you, I think it's time you got some rest." He then pushed me over onto my bed and pulled my blanket over top of me. He then shut the lights out and grabbed the handle on my door. "Night night Amethia." Narien shut the door as he left my room swiftly. When I woke up the following morning I quickly darted downstairs to see Narien sleeping on the couch. I was worried about having dreamt the night prior's events, but clearly I hadn't. I felt my heart soften at the sight of him asleep on the couch. He looked so perfect while asleep, I desperately wanted to reach out and touch him. I began to lean forward when I caught myself and spun away from the man before doing anything I'd regret later. I then marched back upstairs to go change. I undressed myself as quickly as possible before heading to my dresser to find something to wear. I was still half-naked when Narien walked in on me. "Get out!" I shouted. His face flushed a deep red colour as he uttered an apology, covering his eyes before leaving my room. I sighed, more so concerned at how quiet he was at getting around this creaky old house. I exited the room once fully dressed and Narien stood there waiting for me. I sighed, opening my mouth to say something when he began to laugh. I furrowed my brows in confusion over his actions before speaking. "What's so funny?" He wiped the tears forming in his eyes from his laughter. "Some dumb part of me actually thought you would come out in your underwear for me to see." I blushed at the thought. "T-that's not nice!" His eyes then turned to those of hunger as he fixed his gaze on me. He pushed me up against the door to my room and kissed me. "I'm not a nice person," he said tauntingly. "Narien..." I mumbled, the blush on my face growing deeper. "What do you want, dearest mate?" He asked me in a seductive tone I'd never heard before. I breathed heavily at his words. "Kiss me again," I said with my eyes half-lidded. He complied immediately, pressing, no, smashing his lips to mine with a deep sensation I'd never felt before. This was something new, something foreign that I wasn't used to. Lust.
