We have a big pep rally this afternoon, I don't think Asher is too happy about taking me to practice any earlier than normal this morning but unfortunately we have a five thirty a.m. call time meaning we are leaving at five. I'm glad he's at least reliable because when I rush out of the door at four fifty-nine he's closing the door to his house and walking down the porch steps. "Are you gonna be there?" I ask once getting settled in the passenger seat. "Where?" He asks sleepily while starting the truck. I am quite literally freezing. "The pep rally? The whole reason we're up so early" I say between chattering teeth, he glances over at me. "You forgot your jacket?" I nod with a shrug. "Once the car heats up I'll be fine" I assure him. Once we get to a red light he reaches into the backseat and hands me a black zip up hoodie. "Thank you" I respond while slipping it on. He just nods. "Not very talkative today?" I tease, but he just glances over at me again. "It's barely five Lyd and I am already driving." I put my hand on his bicep. "It's ok baby Asher. I know it's early but you can always take a nap before school"
I say in baby talk. I don't miss the goosebumps that rise on his skin after touching him though. I give him a little playful squeeze before letting go.
We pull up to the gym entrance like every morning, I reach for my bag by my feet and to open the door when his hand lands on my knee making me whip my head towards him. He's looking at me as he allows his hand to move from my knee up to the top of my thigh. "Have a nice practice" He winks and I smile, I lean over the console and place a chaste kiss to his lips, long enough to entice him but just short enough to tease him. "Have a nice morning"I wink back before hopping out and letting myself get engulfed by the warmth of the gym.
"Is that Asher Calloways jacket?" Candice asks me as I slip it on after my shower. "How the hell did you know that?" I ask looking down at the plain black hoodie. "I saw you get out of his truck this morning, and this is like 4 sizes too big for you."
I laugh. "It's Ashers yeah, but you know we live right next door. We've grown up together, Kennie is my bestfriend, I don't drive so while she's out of town she has assigned Asher to bring me to school, and home." She lifts her brow to me. "I can't believe Kennie just trusts you guys alone together. I could never leave Andrew with any of my friends" This time I feel my brows furrow. "Why wouldn't she trust us?" "He's hot, you’re hot. Hot people f*ck" She states simply while tying the laces of her shoes. "That doesn't- that's not always the case" I respond and she glances up at me. "So you can sit there and tell me you don't think he's attractive and you've never thought about boning him?" Well I could be honest, or I could lie. The thing with Candice is she is a huge gossiper and I don't think Asher wants our business out there. "No, he's just a childhood friend. I really have to get to class. But I'll see you for the rally" She just nods while I grab my bag rushing towards the door and to my first class of the day.
Pep rally started about 20 minutes ago, we did our first couple cheers, principal Ottermon spoke. Coaches spoke. And now for the fun stuff, the games. I got lucky and have musical chairs, some of the girls got the race. Ugh I could never, if there's one thing I hate most it's running in front of 500 teenagers while trying to beat track stars and football corners, it's just not a cute look. Candice, and Amelia did their little games first and now it was my turn. I grab the mic from Coach and start speaking. "Hey everyone! Are we all having a good time?" I ask, everyone screams and I laugh a little. "Alright, next up is musical chairs. If you wish to participate raise your hands and my girls will choose a lucky few" Hands start shooting up all around the gymnasium. A couple girls run out and start picking 5 each. A few I recognize from my classes, most of them I don't know. They had the baseball team setting up our chairs while we waited for everyone to come front, and center. I see out of the corner of my eye Candice practically dragging Asher out of his chair to come play and I snicker. Asher is not much of one for games. But when he locks eyes with me he gives in, walking up more willingly. "You all know the rules" I pull the mic from my mouth and say to the ones close enough to hear. "Don't be assholes"
They all laugh and the music starts.
The first few rounds are pretty simple, and easy. We're down to 11 people left. Asher is still in which isn't surprising, he's a competitive person. The music stops and I sit back into my chair. A few more round go on theres 3 of us left. Me, Asher, and a senior named Tommy. The music shut off and I sit down, I look over to see who survived. Asher was in the chair and Tommy was on the floor laughing. The music started again, it's down to one chair. I look over at Asher to see him smiling so hard he can barely contain himself, as if he already won, well guess what- s**t. The music stopped and I sit back, the chair disappears from under me and I fall on the ground. I look up at Asher laughing his head off. This asshole picked the chair up from under me and sat in it. I'd say that's cheating. He's still laughing but so is everyone else in the bleachers. He stands up and offers his hand to me which I gladly take to get off the floor. He wraps his arm around my shoulders as we walk off to the side, him still so amused with himself. He bent his neck to whisper in my ear since everyone was so loud you can barely hear anything unless you are right up on them.
"You did great" He tells me, I roll my eyes before pushing his arm off of me and heading over to my squad. Of course they're all laughing too. It is pretty funny, I wonder if someone recorded it, I'd love to see it.
