Chapter 22 - POV Charlie - Marissa

1127 Words
I just got off the phone with Patty, and I know they will all be here soon. I’m so grateful they will be here soon. Marissa will need all of us now. Martin has been my rock through this. He told me how his Alpha is also coming with my brother. That was news to me. Why did Patty not mention that? I thought he would be in his own territory by now. It doesn’t matter, we need to rally. The more packs the better. I looked up and saw Ms.Storm coming in with the man from before. She motions for me to come with her, but I don't want to leave Marissa alone. Jasmine sensed my unease and offered to sit with her. I agreed and reluctantly followed Ms. Storm and the unknown man outside the door. I know this is a trying time, Miss Charlie, but it's of the most importance you speak to us now. This is Mr. Reginald. He is the one of the founding members of our academy. I could sense something different about him. Not bad, just different. He looked at me then smiled knowingly. “You have a keen sense, Miss Charlie. I’m a hybrid. My mother was a witch and my father a werewolf.” I was taken back. I knew there were hybrids, but I didn't expect one to be here now and be a founding member. Let alone that someone of that nature would be in such a prestigious position. Most people don’t take kindly to hybrids. They say they can't be trusted as they don't have any true alliance with either species. Yet here he is, saving my friend, and working and founding one of the most prestigious werewolf academies around. “I helped create this school, it is my magic that protects us and hides us. I wanted to create a place where we could all learn and cooperate without judgment from our packs. Where ranked members could learn to work together for the betterment of their packs. While I do allow other supernatural beings to visit the campus on weekends. My spell is never to let Vampires in without special permission. I know for a fact I didn't create any vampire loopholes for tonight. Because I still have the special talisman they would need to enter in my possession.” He held up what looked to be some kind of bracelet. I can feel the magic coming off of it. I guess that’s how Ms.Storms's vampire comes to campus to speak to us. “You have stated that four vampires were on campus tonight, and one of them harmed Miss Marissa. I would think you would have been mistaken if it weren’t for the confirmation from Ms. Storm here. Upon her examination, she noticed the bite marks. This vampire had every intention of taking Miss Marissa, I fear. As they didn’t drain her blood but simply poisoned her with their venom.” At his words I, began to cry again, poison her! But why? Marissa never hurt anyone. Why poison her? “I can see your confusion, the poison is deadly if left untreated. The remedy can only be provided by the vampire covens. They use this to subdue their prey and bring them back to their coven. Fortunately for us, we work very closely with one vampire and he has supplied us with a small supply of his anti-venom. This is what you saw Ms.Storm give your friend earlier.” Thank the goddess for that. “Will Marissa be alright?” I asked with hope and pleading eyes. “As Ms.Storm has already explained, it's up to Marissa right now. She would fare better with her mate by her side. If I understand correctly, that's not a possibility currently. Surrounding her with love from friends will help for now. Let the antivenom work and I’m sure with time she will recover.” relief flooded through me. Goddess, please watch over your child. Marissa deserves to live and find her mate and destiny. “As for the discovery of the illegal vampires on the campus, this is concerning. They should not have been able to get onto campus. Let alone without my specific permission and authorization. I can only assume they are working with a witch, and that troubles me as well. As their witch would need to be powerful to sneak them through my spell.” I’m concerned but in truth only half listening, my heart wants to be in with Marissa, ensuring her safety. “ “I have heard your alpha is on his way, or rather your future alpha, and I would like a word with him when he arrives. Please inform him to find me as soon as possible. I will be in my office trying to figure out how the vampires got in. Please accept my deepest condolences to your friend. You did well getting her here so soon, and getting Ms. Storms help. Had you waited much longer the anti-venom would not have been able to help.” I sighed in relief that I at least managed to do one good thing tonight. I got her the cure in time. I walked back into the room and found my friends surrounding Marissa’s body. She looks so peaceful lying there, but I know a war is raging inside her. Hurry up Damon and get here, I need you guys. Just then, I heard the alarm bells that something was wrong. I looked at the others and they had worried looks on their faces as well. The speakers came on. "Attention all students, please remain indoors. There are enemies outside the walls and security has been dispatched. We ask that you go nowhere alone and remain inside." I knew we were all thinking about it. It has to be the vampires, but why? What are they after? What could they possibly want with the academy? The nurse came in and told us we were welcome to stay. The outer doors are locked and there hasn't been a breach of the walls, so it's just precautionary to stay inside. I wondered then if Damon would even be able to reach us if we were locked down. Hopefully the enemy runs off before he has to cross their path. I felt warm arms come from behind me and I turned into Martins' strong chest and just let him hold me. Everything felt a mess. Out of control. There was nothing that I could do right now except wait everything out and hope Marissa woke up soon. Martin kissed me on the top of my head and then took me to the couch in the room and I laid on his shoulder, just waiting.
