Marissa and I headed down to the student parking lot. We decided to take my car to the club and then cab it back to the dorms. Since it's a Friday night, curfew is extended to 3:00am as we are still on campus. I get a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach but I ignore the feeling and concentrate on looking for Martin, as he must be close by. I looked around and near my car I spotted him and Jasmine waiting for us to arrive. He looks handsome, he’s in black jeans and a royal blue button-up shirt that hugs him perfectly. Jasmine is wearing a complimentary royal blue dress that shows off her body. They definitely take the twin thing to heart. I don’t think Damon and I have ever colour coordinated. I find them adorable though. I can see Martin take a step towards us, as his eyes take in all my body has to offer.
“Hey guys, wow Charlie, you look amazing. I’m going to have to be right next to you all night to bat the guys away.” He winks at me and pulls me in close to him.
“Hey, don’t I look pretty too.” Marissa stated with a fake little pout. We all start laughing and Martin exclaimed that she also looks breathtaking tonight and offers to stay close to her too. This she refuses and states she's out to have fun tonight, no need for a c**k block. We all burst out laughing and piled into the car.
In trying to be more social, I told Jasmine I really liked her dress too. She politely smiled and told me thank you. She and I actually have a lot in common, we both enjoy a good training session, and she also couldn't even fathom walking in Marissa’s heels tonight. Which we all laughed at and Marissa gave a little pouty growl again.
We pulled up to the club and I parked my car, Martin escorted us all inside, paying special attention to me, with his hand on the small of my back. Martin and Jasmine explained that even though this club is on campus, it's not solely for us students. In fact, it's not even just for wolves, any supernatural can come. The spell that lets us into the grounds will also allow other supernatural beings to enter on weekends if they ask for permission ahead of time and get a special stamp. This is also helpful as it allowed a witch to be the bartender and she uses a special spell to make werewolves able to get drunk. Our metabolisms are so quick that I've never been drunk before. I think tonight is going to get crazy. I was not surprised when I walked in and saw a faerie fly by chasing another, or a gnome sitting at the bar drinking a beer. In fact, there are some super naturals I’m not even sure I’ve heard of, like the two in the middle of the dance floor with lions' heads and wings. I think I love it here! What did surprise me was when I looked up on the balcony and saw four vampires sitting in a circle watching the crowd enjoying a drink. Thankfully, none were Mr. Creepy himself, but still uneasy, as his presence on campus still alarmed me. From what I've learned in wolf history, most vampires know each other. So do these vampires know Mr. Creepy. Are they here to watch me too? I try to forget about them and head to the bar with the gang for a drink.
As we ordered our drinks, I noticed that the vampires' eyes followed us. Hm maybe they are here to spy for Mr. Creepy. Can I not just have one night of fun without vamps ruining it for me? Treaty or not, they need to just let me be. The only problem was I was now acutely aware they weren't watching me. Well, not all of them at least. The one in the middle looks our way and I felt him looking Marissa up and down. She seemed to notice too and gave a little flirty smile back. I knew she wanted to have fun tonight, but really Marissa,a vampire. I tried to ignore my gut feeling and the obvious eye flirting between the two and just ordered my drink at the bar.
“Vodka on the rocks please”. This was my go to. Sometimes I could get a bit of a buzz if I drank enough of them fast enough. I took a sip and knew I wouldn't be able to stomach too many of these before losing myself. I smiled to myself at the thought of finally getting drunk.
“I do enjoy a woman who knows what she wants.” I felt him wrap his arm around my stomach before he talked. I wiggled a little in his arms, and that was a mistake. Because now we were both getting carried away, and a bar was not the place. I grabbed my drink and turned around to face Martin. I smiled seductively and asked to go dancing. I took a quick look up to where the vampires were and found the one who was eyeing Marissa was gone. Hmm odd. I kept dancing with Martin and now Jasmine too. These two are wild with their moves. I kept wondering where Marissa was though, with that vampire gone, I assumed they were somewhere on this dance floor together. She already had two double jays. Before I had finished my vodka, with this witches' brew, I knew I was in my happy place. I could only imagine how gone she must have been. I know she wanted a wild night, but she still should have kept in contact.
I broke off the dance with Martin and told them we should look for Marissa. I’ve tried to mind link her a couple times but it's fuzzy. Finally, I see a back entrance and even Iris is urging me forward. I stumbled a bit as I was now three vodkas in and waved to Martin and Jasmine to follow and we went through the doors. What I found was that vamp with a barely conscious Marissa in his hands. Martin immediately went into fight mode, as he was sober and I grabbed Marissa. I could hear the vampire fighting back.
I looked back and saw the vampire trying to sucker punch Martin in the face. My heart swelled a bit when I saw Martin use my signature move. He dodged, pretended to uppercut and instead went low and side swiped the vamp. The vamp went down hard and Martin delivered a swift kick to the head. The vamp was out cold. I know they are usually faster and this could have been worse. I think the vamp had indulged to much that night before trying to take Marissa. Seeing the vamp out cold, Martin came running to catch up with us.
Martin said we needed to hurry before that vampire wakes up and we needed to take Marissa to the infirmary. I told the nurse everything that happened and she looked really concerned. I was so worried about my friend. Then I remember Ms. Storm said she had a vampire who would be a guest speaker and figured maybe she could contact him for help. Marissa still wasn't waking up and I could see the vampire had bitten her neck.
After some convincing, I finally got the nurse to call Ms. Storm. She arrived pretty quick. She looked like maybe we had interrupted a date or something. Some random wolf accompanied her and I saw a vile of some blue liquid in her hand. Ms. Storm looked at Marissa and examined her neck. That's when we all knew it was true, the marks on Marissa's neck. She was bitten by a vampire. My stomach instantly turned and I threw up in a nearby trash can. How could I be so stupid to let her out of my sight when I saw them making eyes at each other. I should have trusted my gut. I should have told Marissa about everything that was going on with me. I should have told her my gut feelings. I feel like this is all my fault.
‘Now is not the time for breaking down, Charlie. We need to help Marissa. You need to tell them everything and you need to call Damon.’ Iris is right. I need to hold it together for my friend. I'm not sure why I need to call Damon though. I guess maybe because he's technically her future alpha.
‘He’s her future Alpha he needs to know.’ Ah,see I was right. .
I saw Ms.Storm administer the blue vile, almost instantly some colour came back to Marissa’s body. Thank the Goddess, she might be alright.
“Does Mrs. Marissa have a mate?” I gave her an odd look. She must have sensed my confusion.
“Dear, does she have a mate? The elixir I’ve given her will help counteract the vampire venom in her system, but she would recover much quicker if her mate is nearby.” Oh, that makes sense. Our mates make us feel better and can accelerate healing. The only problem being, Marissa doesn’t have a mate yet. Not one she has found anyway. I solemnly shook my head no, and grabbed Marissa’s hand in mine.
“Well, she will have to heal herself then. It's up to her body now if she is to recover. I’ve done all I can do.” I let the tears start flowing as I sat there holding Marissa’s hand, I felt so guilty. I can hear Martin on the phone reporting everything to his best friend and future Alpha. Which reminds me of Iris’s words that I should report this to Damon too.
