So, it had not been a terrible, terrible dream. It had all been real! Marie Havinga broke down, and asked why the one true God had withdrawn his mercy and made her live. Suddenly she heard a distinctive whistle like one in a plant or a shipyard. Deo raised his head and saw that his companion had awakened. He approached her carrying a formidable hunting knife. Marie tried not to look at him, and concentrated instead on a peculiar picture on the wall behind him. He put the knife to her throat.
