8 Eli’s POV I noticed something was off before I even had the chance to ask. She didn’t look at me during class. Not once. Usually, I could count on a glance, but today, her eyes skimmed past me like I wasn’t even there. At first, I thought I’d done something wrong. Maybe she was tired. Maybe I crossed a line during our last night together. I replayed it in my head too many times, trying to pinpoint the mistake. After class, I waited. Hung back while the others left.
