3 Eli’s POV I thought I was imagining things when I got the email. Subject: Extra Credit Opportunity From: Dr. Monroe To: Eli Turner. Hi Eli, If you’re open to some extra work, I have a special analysis project I think you’d enjoy. It’s outside the syllabus, very focused and very interpretive. Come by my office this evening if you’re interested. We can talk about it in more detail. -Dr. Monroe I stared at it for a long time. “Very focused and very interpretive.” I knew what she was doing. At least, I thought I did. Still, I showed up. 6:05 PM. Her door was slightly open. I knocked anyway. She was at her desk, reading. No glasses tonight. Hair down. “Eli,” she said, looking up. “Come in.” The door clicked shut behind me, and suddenly the room felt way too small. Or too warm.
