The Zetan gods became divided when they heard about the destruction of Zetani. They had massive egos and after millennia of praise from their human underlings, but the Zeto crystals had ensured that they strived for a common goal. Now that the war had ended, there was no longer any reason for them to stay close to Earth, but there was nowhere else for them to go. Their homeworld was destroyed along with most portals to the Divine Dimension. There were still a few active portals on Earth, but unfortunately, they were challenging to power up without the advanced energy sources the Zetans had used on Zetani.
Having lost their original purpose, the remaining Zetans in the Divine Dimension got immersed om their roles as human deities. their daily lives. As gods, they started arguing how humans should live their lives, a question that hadn’t concerned them before.
One Zetan who was very particular about governing his human followers was Yahweh who created incredibly detailed rules for how humans should live their lives. The rules were purposefully made to contradict each other so that Yahweh could study the c*****e when his followers fought bloody wars about how to interpret the rules. Watching this mayhem kept his life interesting.
As the Zeto crystals no longer unified the Zetans, they started having disagreements and fights among themselves. They chose to settle these arguments on Earth by affecting various human behaviours and betting on the outcome. The primary measure of success for the Zetans stuck in the Divine Dimension was their popularity and dominance on Earth among humanity. By making humans fight wars in their names, separate groups of Zetans could show dominance over other groups without risking the future of their species. This order worked well for the Zetans for thousands of years, until a certain event took place.
