chapter 8 New friends

My alarmed blared out and I sluggishly tried to turn it off not even remembering why I set it up in the first place.

Throwing the alarm to the other side of the room I prepared for another round.

Heyyyyyy I heard someone scream really loud like way too loud.

"Aren't you going to school today " a voice that sounded a lot my sister's asked me.

Not even minding her I covered my head with my pillows and snuggled my body even deeper hoping she would get the hint to leave me the f**k alone.

But she didn't...

"Mummmmm Maddie doesn't want to get out of her bed

Shocked at her betrayal Looked up just about to say the meanest word that could come to mind I heard my mom's loud footsteps coming up the stairs, loud which meant angry, angry mom which meant trouble and I was not in the right state of my to have a thorough vocal cords training session with my mom this early-ish morning .

Struggling to get out of the web of sheets that was my bestest friend now felt like my enemy seeing as it had managed to wrap me up like a burrito.

Finally I said yelled out braking free and falling out of my bed with a groan out of my lips. The victory was short-lived as I heard the door fling open revealing a terrifying looking woman that held no form of kindness this morning,hmm that's what Mondays are, it's take any shred of happiness you have left chew it up and spit it in your face.

Before she could unleash her wrath I raised my hands.

"I'm up, I'm up "

"Don't kill me yet "

Raising her eyebrows she replied"You're up, i care if you're at the bottom I want to out of my house in 20 minutes ...

Cutting her off I shrieked "20 minutes, how do you expect me to get dressed in just 20 minutes it's barely sevee "I paused jaw dropping , it's Seven thirty already, what time did I fall asleep.

"Get dressed or I dropping you off myself"

That seemed to do the trick I quickly grabbed my robe not before giving Cassie a mean look wiping that stupid smirk off her face.Getting Ready

I rushed through my morning routine, still half asleep. My mom's warning about being late echoed in my mind as I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs. Cassie was already gone, but I could sense her smugness lingering in the air. I muttered under my breath, "I'll get you, Cassie."

Breaking a new record I got of the shower in less than 10 For the first time in a long time, I slept peacefullynutes and got dressed in 2 , thank the moon goddess I had the habit of always picking what I wanted to wear on the weekends.

Sitting at the front of the mirror I hummed "Cinderella's dead" by Emeline while curling up my long golden hair trying hard not to ruin my beautiful hair which was by far my favourite part of my body.

My hair took up more time than expected.

Contemplating what colour of eyeshadow to use ( this is gonna be really hard)

Finally I gasped dropping my eyeliner down.

Opening my wardrobe i quickly realised my makeup was the pretty much easier than picking out what to wear.

My once messy wardrobe now looked like a wardrobe you would see in a vouge magazine.

Picking up a black leggings and crop top which I managed to sneak out of my old clothes my mom made me throw away.

"Please don't tell me that's what you're wearing on your first day of school Maddie" l looked behind me and saw

Audrey with a look of displeasure clearly shown on her face.

"How did you manage to get in?" I asked really surprised.

"Umm through the door genius"

Sarcasm clearly written in her voice.

"I'm serious"

Your mum let me in and for once I wanted to not wake the entire neighborhood since it's a new year it's definitely going to be a new me.

"Yeah right "I snorted in reply.

"Why do you want to ruin your first day of school Maddie"

"Whatt it's cute"

"Yeah for a five year old" I'm serious continuing her sentence"you have to decide if you still want to be cute or beautiful maybe even beautiful and sexy.

She does have a point I'll be Eighteen soon and I have to start looking like it.

So what do you think I should wear Gigi hadid I teased calling her by her nickname . She was literally obsessed with gigi hadid the super model.

"Move over, hmmm let's see"

First of wow, your mom is really amazing. Why didn't you get her fashion sense she asked with disappointment in her voice .

"Hurry up we're going to be late"

What I asked looking at the wardrobe.

Your mom bought the exact same Versace dress that I'm wearing.

I wanted to get another one for you but it was sold out. I guess your mom beat me to it

Let's get this over with already I groaned looking at the time.

Oh my, we're late already.

Well it's not my fault you woke up late.

"Hurry up"

*Okay wear this, and this too" she ordered shoving the dress with matching black boots that reached my knees.

Turn around I muttered

"What are you still this childish,we have this same parts you know"

"Just turn"

"Thank God I was starting to think you were rearranging your skin."

"What about breakfast I whined loudly"

There's no time

Grabbing my bag I muttered "I hate you"under my breath.

"I know, now quit your whining and get your ass outside she yelled out already downstairs.

How did she get downstairs so fast.

"Bye mom"

What about breakfast she asked looking up from oven.

"There's no time" i replied already outside.

As I stepped out the door, I spotted Audrey 's car pulling up. She honked the horn, and I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. We'd been friends since forever, and I loved her quirky sense of humor.

There goes your new year promise.

You woke up half the neighborhood already, as always you never disappoint to disappoint me I said laughing out loud.

Get in or you'll get to school yourself.

Getting in she handed me a paper bag that had a mouth watering delicious chocolate cake in it. My favourite.

"Thanks sooo much" I said giving her a peck on her cheeks.

We hit the road, chatting about our weekends and upcoming plans. But our conversation was cut short as we got stuck behind a slow-moving truck. Audrey groaned, "Come on, move!" I laughed, "You know we're gonna be late."

The truck finally turned off the main road, and we picked up speed. But our relief was short-lived as we hit a traffic jam. Sarah drummed her fingers on the steering wheel, "This is so frustrating!" I suggested, "Let's take a detour?" She nodded, and we navigated through the side streets.

"But that's still going to take another Fifteen minutes and were going to loose our parking space"

"What do we do then this is so frustrating"

"Why don't i take the other shortcut it's a just five minutes walk and three if I jog really fast"

"You mean run,Yeah I really wished the cars could take that short cut too.

I'm leaving we need to stop wasting time I said quickly grabbing my bag from the back seat.

Getting to school in two minutes which was a new record and I didn't have to run,shame on you Audrey.

I found the perfect parking space and just in time before the cars started coming in.

It's barely being five minutes and the entire school was rushing to classes.

Heyyy it's our number one party animal a voice above me yelled out before grabbing me into a full hug.

What's going on I asked not even seeing the face of whoever it was squeezing out the breath out of me.

"Let her down Dean."

Audrey commanded coming to my rescue.

Dean was one of the jackass in the football club.

What was that for I questioned smacking his chest

"You made the party more fun last night".

Yeah another of the footballers said pitching in.

"It was was awesome Maddie"

Another guy high fived me and almost the entire class high fived me too.

Alright that's enough, party's over we all looked back as the loud voice boomed round the entire classroom.

Mrs Monroe stood staring at us with a serious look on her face.

She was the toughest teacher in our school.

Biology class was really slow which was unusual. And Mrs Monroe kept on repeating words I didn't understand nor pronounce which made it even feel more like biology class.

Staring at Damon empty seat I wondered if was still having his hangover from yesterday's party.

He wasn't exactly a punctual student anyways he probably would be here Thirty minutes into the first period.

Damon was absent the rest of the period and the ones after that.

Everyone just seemed to find me interesting and by lunch I had over 50 new contacts and dozens of lunch date and most of them even complemented my new look which was kinda of a first.

The cafeteria was packed as usual and the line to the burger stand was longer than my biology assignment which was a lottt.

"Over here Maddie" i could Audrey

waving at me from the crowded table.

"Thanks" I whispered

Our table which used to be just the three of us including Damon now had about fifteen people all squished together.

I was still in my thoughts when Audrey said something that made my heart skip a beat.

"I think Damon and Brittany skipped school today"

Yeah I guess I managed to mutter.

Christine one of school know it all heard and gave her input which was really unnecessary by the way.

I honestly can't believe that slut was all over him yesterday.

I know right someone else pitched in and soon enough the entire table was talking about it and I just wanted to eat lunch.

Lunch went just as quickly as it came, which meant it was really really slow and of all the days it just had to be today. This is why I love having a small circle most people call it lonely but I found it really peaceful and from the looks of it I fear my circle might become even bigger. Audrey and I kind of clinked with sam and lila.

Sam was obsessed with the royal army and wanted to enrol there as soon as high school was over and lila was into conspiracy theories, I mean this girl lived for the thrill of it. And they were really funny and they felt real than most people on our table.

The bell rang and everyone sluggishly moved to their next classes.

And of course they left their lunches on the tables.

I and some students stayed around to tidy up the place.

Rushing out the cafeteria to my English class that I was ten minutes late to.

I smashed my face into the wall or should I say a man's chest a really hard one.
