Cassandra's POV His wound was worse than he was letting on. I could see that immediately. It ran from just below his ribs around toward his back and it was deep. When I pressed the cloth against it he did not flinch, which told me either he had an extraordinary pain threshold or he was being stubborn about showing it. Probably both. We did not speak for the first few minutes. I cleaned it and he sat still and let me, which was its own kind of remarkable. "This needs proper stitching," I said. "It will close on its own."
