CHAPTER 3 Saturday evening, Caroline’s cell phone rang. She fished it out of her bag, which she’d dropped on the floor in the middle of the room, and pushed the button. “Hey, Maggie, what’s up?” she asked. “Just wondering where you were. I haven’t heard from you in days. I went to your house but no one was there. Did you go to visit your family?” “No. I’m out of town.
