TELL ME WHAT?

1069 Words
Pearl's POV. "Isn't that Coach Pearl? Wasn't she fired?" A student whispered as I walked past. "I know, right? What is she still doing here?" I heard every word but kept my head down, eyes forward, ignoring the whispers echoing around me. "I heard she is desperately trying to retain her position as Coach." "She should just quit, she is an omega. By the way, why does she look so pale?" Their murmurs followed me like shadows as I entered the administrative building. The moment the door closed behind me, I exhaled sharply, pressing a hand to my chest to steady my breathing. My heart was racing. Last night was brutal. I hadn't slept a wink and was drained of energy. Infact, I was wrecked beyond reason. The Alpha's didn't let me rest. Not even for a second. And there were only 5 of them. What would have happened if all 6 were present? Gittens wasn't present and he was their captain, the stronger Alpha with pure blood. He was a direct descendant of Selene, the moon goddess. Speaking of Gittens, what was his motive? Why do I feel something is amiss? "God." I groaned as I held the wall to stabilize myself, pausing to relax my legs, which seemed to be wobbling. My whole body was aching, and I just wanted to lie in bed all day and catch up on sleep. I needed sleep. A whole week of it but Director Alex had summoned me. He wanted results. Impatient, even though it hadn't been 72 hours or had it? I'd lost track of time after... after it happened again. My condition which always reacted in the worst presences. Still I had achieved the impossible. The Alpha's, well, 5 of them, were under my command now. Bonded with me. Victory was within my reach. Unless they found their mate? But that would be impossible. The prophecy said nothing about the 6 Alpha's finding a mate. I entered Director Alex's office without knocking. He was already pacing, his hands clasped behind his back. "Good thing you are here, Pearl. How are things?" He asked, looking out his window, his back turned to me. "I have them set, the Alphas," I replied, raising my head with pride. "All six of them?" Director Alex turned to ask me with his eyes widening a bit and I gulped. "Five of them actually." I corrected and the side of his lips curled into a smirk. "So she was right? I thought as much." He whispered under his breath but I caught it and furrowed my brows at him. I blinked. She? Who was she? He didn't explain. He just sat down at his desk, picked up a file and tossed it my way. I caught it just in time and looked at it. Now, I wish I hadn't. The air thickened and my stomach dropped. "W - what is this?" I stammered. He shrugged. "You're fired." The words crashed into me. My hands shook and the file slipped from my grip and hit the floor. "B-but I-I kept my w-word." I stammered, feeling my eyes twitching as I watched him play with a pen, the smirk still on his face. 'Had I been tricked or missing something else?' I pondered but had no answer. "Thank you for your efforts, Pearl, but I have gotten a better coach, and not only is she not a weakened omega but also has the six Alphas, which you failed to get." Director Alex told me with an unruly smirk. My heart dropped. Heat rushed to my face. It felt like standing in the center of a volcano. What was he talking about? Another 6 Alpha's? No. That's impossible and we both know it! But if it was... Had I failed? Thoughts raced through my head and I gripped my skull, struggling to breathe. "Director Alex, I think you are mistaken…” A sharp snap of his fingers silenced me. A ding followed, his phone lighting up with a message. He looked at it and his grin deepened. "You can come in now." He called out and I turned as the door creaked open behind me The sight made my heart slam into my ribs. Gittens Walker, Captain of the Six generational Alphas and Lilith Nightshade, my nemesis, walked in. She walked in with her head standing tall, flipping her golden hair backwards, like the spoiled brat she was. My throat closed up and my chest ached. What were they doing here? How did they know Director Alex? As soon as they entered, Director Alex stood to shake their hands, greeting Lilith with the kind of respect he'd never given me. They took their seats across from him,. launching into business conversation like I wasn't even in the room. My voice cracked as I tried to speak. "Can someone please explain what's going on?" Lilith turned, grinning as she rolled her eyes. "You are getting fired and I am getting hired." I scoffed, ignoring her and looking at Director Alex."We had a deal, I have the Alphas. Why are you trying to go back on your words?" Why do people always step over me like I'm nothing? What did I ever do wrong to deserve this? "You are mistaken, sweetie. Did the 5 Alphas not tell you?" Lilith asked out of the blue. I blinked at her repeatedly, lost. "They obviously didn't. Poor soul." Gittens chimed in, and I bit my lower lip in frustration. "Tell me what?" I demanded to know, my lips quivering as I began to sense this ominous feeling, like what I would hear next would break me. "You can't have the Alphas,” Lilith said, her grin widening. “Because they have found their mate." I reeled backward in shock, all colors draining out of my face. Beads of sweat began to gather on my forehead as my stomach dropped. "Impossible." I whispered, shaking my head in denial as Lilith burst into laughter. "It's not,” Gittens stepped forward, his eyes locking on mine as he said those words that destroyed my world. “Our mate is Lilith." A cold shiver swept through me then, I burst into laughter. A loud, unhinged, and wild laugh that escaped me like a breathless air. They looked at me like I was crazy but I didn't care. I was breaking down and it was their fault.
