LILITH.

1015 Words
Pearl's POV. "Damn!" Director Alex exclaimed, the side of his lips curling in satisfaction as he walked out of the field. I stood there, stunned. How was she so fast? "Pearl, Get her." Elara yelled and I turned to see her waving at me with a determined expression. I clenched my fists and dashed after Lilith who was about to score another point when I jumped and pushed the ball out of her hands. But before I could land back on my feet, she already grabbed the ball again and scored yet another. The ball bounced and I hurriedly dashed towards it but then, mist appeared out of nowhere and I tried navigating but they soon disappeared and I saw Lilith was already back at the court, slamming the ball into the basket hard. Lilith was a Beta wolf at rank and she just used her greatest technique. Creating mists out of nothing to distract the opponent. 'I was an omega and had no fancy techniques like that. I was so screwed.' I thought as I felt my heart skipping a beat in fear especially when Gittens got up to cheer her continuously. My back burned with gazes. Beads of sweats gathering on my forehead as I saw a look of disappointment flash through the Alphas' eyes. "At this rate, Lilith would scale." I heard Director Alex bragging. "Shut up, Squid. It's just the first half." Pearl snapped at him. I barely touched the ball and just kept watching Pearl score each and every point till the whistle was blown for a break. I dragged my feet out of the Court, looking downwards as my cheeks burned with embarrassment. Just then, I felt someone nudge me intentionally. "To think I thought you would have topped up. Guess you are still a weakling." Lilith mocked and I gritted my teeth against one another. I had to find a way to beat her somehow. I couldn't lose. I ran out of the field as her maniacal laughter echoed in my ears continuously. I was breathing heavily and out of breath, by the time, I entered the female's locker room. My legs wobbled and I collapsed to the ground, different emotions swirling within me as I recounted my defeat. I couldn't even touch the ball, talkmore of scoring a point. 'Was I really that weak and useless?' I pondered, biting my lower lips hard. "Don't tell me you are feeling defeated, already." I heard a familiar voice and looked up to see Jaxton walking towards me, Magnus and Griffin trailing behind him. "G-guys." I wanted to speak but took my eyes down to my lap, knowing they must feel so disappointed. "It's written all over her face." Griffin relaxed against one of the lockers, as he stared at me deeply. "I have to admit, Lilith sure has gotten better." Magnus pointed out and I felt my heart shattering into pieces. Even the Alphas saw how amazing she was out there. Something I didn't want to admit to myself. I guess she was more suitable to be their coach, while I was suited to be what? "Gittens has been training her personally but despite that, I believe Pearl can beat her." Jaxton dropped to his knees and cupped my face in his hands. My eyes widened in surprise as I raised my head to look at him, his warm hands caressing my face as a thin smile, crossed his lips. "R-really?" I stuttered. "I would rather not admit it but I believe that too." Griffin pushed a strand of his hair behind his ears while Magnus nodded, folding his arms across his chest. I froze. 'Was I dreaming?' I wondered in disbelief, because they saw such talent and still said this? Or were they trying to lighten the mood? "But she is like a prodigy." I reminded them Incase they had forgotten. "So?" Magnus scoffed. "Gittens was a prodigy as well, an Elite, till nobody Grim beat and surpassed him." Jaxton placed a finger on my lips and I felt the urge to lick it. He was right though. Grim used to be like me, if not worse, before his potential was discovered. He was the lowest of the six Alphas and wasn't even supposed to be considered if not for his background. But then he climbed his way up and even had to be trained to control his strength. My case is different though. He had potential but I didn't. My own mum didn't even want me and in all aspects of my life, I have been nothing but a failure and to feel better about it, I tried to ruin Elara's life. The one girl that was now doing everything in her powers to protect me. I guess Lilith was my Karma. "I will just drop out. Lilith can be captain, I a.." I had barely completed my statement when Jaxton's hands left my face and punched the locker behind me, hard. I jolted, startled as I felt my soul leaving my body, watching his expression harden. He removed his hand and blood dripped onto my face. A shiver ran down my spine. Shit! How did I get Jaxton so pissed? He was a monster when angry. "Are you insane?" He growled, and I noticed his fingers transforming into claws. Saliva gathered in my mouth and I gulped them down, hurriedly. I had to leave now. Otherwise I would be dead. "Chill Jaxton." Magnus walked over and dragged Jaxon away from my sight, then led him outside. I turned to see the lockers had burst open and a feeling of dread ran through me as a huge lump formed in my throat. "So you want to run away again?" Griffin chuckled as he bent to my level. I was trying hard not to tremble. "Look at me, Pearl." He spoke softly but I shut my eyes instead. He grabbed me by the chin, rough ly turning me to face him but I still refused to open my eyes till I felt a warm flesh on my lips.
