The Bitten One

Chapter 3

Rachel’s POV

It’s been two days and since it’s Sunday we didn’t know what to do, but to stay home. Alpha Ryder and Jackson didn’t leave our side so I had to cook for them which they both loved.

I loved cooking as it was a way to escape everything around me and to just do something that can keep my mind busy. The girls both have been more calm since the deaths of our parents.

It is late at night and people have called for my parents. I’ve told them they haven’t come home since Friday night. My brother’s friends are always around asking where he was, to which I replied back to them saying he hasn’t come home since Friday night along with my parents.

I am a great liar, but can never stick to one lie so for me to say one lie is great, but I hope they believe me. Of course I turned off their actual phones so nobody could call them. They’ve been calling the house phone which I am thankful for.

We heard the doorbell so I got up and opened it to see my oldest brother and the only person in my family to look at me like I was better than anyone else.

I jumped into his arms and cried a little. If you knew me I would never cry as I’ve cried so many times in the past which got me nowhere, but I missed my big brother. I haven’t seen him in person for ten years.

He was fifteen when he ran away. That makes him about twenty-five years old which is old, but I loved him.

“I missed you big brother.” I whispered.

“I missed you too, baby sister. Now where are the bodies?” He asked.

“In the freezer downstairs.” I told him.

He put me down slowly and walked away. Jackson and Alpha Ryder followed them as the girls were sleeping.I decided to follow since this was my house now.

“Whoa watch out, that isn’t safe!” I told my brother who was trying to open the freezer with the broken handle.

I quickly opened it with the handle I made from the side so I could open it if I was inside there because my brother once put me in there. Once I opened it I allowed him in, but only where the bodies were. I didn’t want him to see the bed back there.

“What’s back there?” He asked.

“N-Nothing.” I stuttered.

He pushed me out of his way and walked to my bed back there. He growled loudly, but didn’t turn to me.

“I-It’s not what it looks like.” I told him.

“Then what is it?” He asked.

“Um; w-when it gets hot during the summer I come in here with the girls for a little bit to cool down.” I said lying.

“You can lie to anybody else, but me. Help us with the bodies.” He told me.

I sighed and nodded. The three ended up leaving a few minutes later with the bodies.

An hour later they came back and changed their clothes. They called the police who quickly showed up. They asked why the three men were here so I told them I called my brother to come help me watch my little sister’s while my parents and other older brother was gone.

I told them this isn’t the first time they left me to watch the girls alone, but they always came back after a day.

“Do you know where they went?” One cop asked, eyeing me.

“No sir. They came home Friday evening and ate then they all left after a while. I called for my brother to come home because I was scared and he sent his friends here to watch me. Then he showed up today. We’ve been trying to call them, but their phones are off or dead.” I explained.

“I’m going to ask you once and I want an honest answer thug.” He told me.

I rolled my eyes because I’ve gotten used to the name 'thug' as I used to hang out with the local gang here.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Do you think your gang had something to do with this?” He asked me.

“I’m not too sure. I did hear my brother say something about how he needed someone's help to harm someone, but he never spoke to me about it.” I told him.

“Would your gang help him if needed?” He asked.

“I’m not too sure. If my brother gave them a lot of money then yes.” I said.

I already sent money to the gang under my brother’s name as he owed them for doing the job of killing me.

“Why are you back here sir?” The officer asked my brother.

“My sister called me Friday night saying that our parents had yelled at each other then at my little brother then left and haven’t been home since. I came as quickly as I could, but I don’t live close so my friend Ryder and his cousin came here to watch my sister’s for me.” My brother explained.

“What is your name sir?” The officer asked.

“Alexander.” He told him.

“Officer’s, can you help us or not?” I asked.

“We can try.” The man told me.

I busted my tears out as I decided to be the one in pain.

“Please try harder than what you normally do. I-I am scared without them.” I whispered crying.

“We will find them ma’am.” The second officer said.

“T-Thank you.” I whispered.

“Where do you think they would go?” The first officer asked glaring at the second.

“Well my parents used to take me up north to the lake. They used to love taking me as a kid so they might take my brother there.” Alexander said.

The officer sighed and decided it was enough questions as it was late. He left but told us he will try to find my parents and brother.

As soon as they left I whipped my tears off and grabbed my phone smirking. I called a number and put it on speaker.

“Hello?” A male voice asked.

“Missed me?” I asked, smirking.

“A-Ace?” He asked.

“One and only. You will pay for what you did one way or another. You and I both know I never betrayed the family, but you all betrayed one of your own now all of you have to pay for what you’ve done.” I told him and hung up.

I sighed and looked away from my brother.

“Why would you even hang out with them knowing what they do?” Alexander asked.

“You do not know what hell I had to go through while you were away Xander. This was to protect myself and they knew it. They used it against me and now they are dead and I’m alive.” I said.

The men all looked at each other.

“Wait, how am I still alive?” I asked.

“Um well you see. There’s this thing called sup-” I cut my brother off.

“Yeah I figured that much, but every book or movie I’ve read you have to be born into the family bloodline or bitten by a vampire.” I told him.

“Well just like a vampire could turn a human into a vampire a wolf can do the same. I was half dead ten years ago when Ryder’s parents found me and changed me themselves. Just like you I am a bitten wolf. We have powers that our bitten wolf chooses. Whoever bit you is now linked to you as if you were one. You could be mates or you could be the protector of the one who bit you. Whatever it is, your wolf will know when it is close.” My brother explained.

“What if I choose to ignore it?” I asked.

“Well the longer you ignore it the harder it will be for you to get your powers.” He told me.

“How would I know who bit me?” I asked him.

“You will get a scent. When I got mine it was chocolate and rain, my two favorite things.” He told me.

I nodded and sighed.

“There is another way, but the one who bit you has to do it.” My brother told me.

“What is it?” I asked.

After a few seconds I smelt blood which made me go crazy with hunger or protection. I looked and saw it was Alpha Ryder who’s hand was now bleeding.

I looked around him for anyone who could harm him, but I didn’t find anything that could cause him pain.

“I could draw some blood to make your wolf show itself.” Alpha Ryder told me.

I calmed down as I understood what happened, but before I could do that I looked into Alpha Ryder’s eyes and something changed. I smelt lavender and mist.

‘MATE!’ A voice yelled in my head.

I held my head as it started to throb in pain.

“Your wolf yelled mate?” Jackson asked.

I just nodded trying to calm my yelling wolf. I felt sparks on my head as the pain calmed down. I sighed and saw Alpha Ryder next to me holding me. I slowly stepped away from him and sighed.

“This doesn’t make sense.” I muttered.

“Overnight your wolf will make sure you make sense of everything. She will show you everything in your sleep. Do not fight it.” Jackson told me.

I sighed and nodded.

“I should go upstairs and rest. You can use whatever rooms that aren't being used Xander. Goodnight.” I muttered and walked upstairs.

“Why haven’t y’all told her?” I heard Xander from my room.

“She ignored everything the second the girls were in trouble. We saw how she killed them and how the girls laid on her. This dumbass decided to ask to take them away, but she ended up shifting to protect them from us. I was trying to sneak them away, but he triggered her shift.” Ryder said.

“Hey! I didn’t want the girls to fear her!” Jackson yelled.

I sighed and closed my eyes allowing the darkness to consume me.
