The Muses

Chapter 6

“So what I am hearing is she didn’t steal it. You gave it to her?” Jace asks looking between Hades and I.

“With a promise. A promise that she has some how ignored these last few months. As Maleficent destroys entire packs your snookums here has been hiding the only thing to destroy her.” Hades says getting really close to me and grabbing a small portion of my hair twisting it around his finger.

“I haven’t found her. Once I find her I will use it.” I say through gritted teeth. “Do not make me out to be a liar when you couldn’t even be a decent father.” I roll my eyes shoving his hand away. I take a step back and hit Jace. Jace takes a step back keeping a distance between us.

“Anya. It needs to be done. Now.” Hades says this finial thing and disappears in a blue cloud of smoke. Collin gives Jace and I a murderous look.

“So what I am hearing is your a thief, disobey orders, and you are insubordinate. Jace, she will be leaving us tonight. Town and all, she is to be left in the no-man’s land and that is final.” Collin walks out the door and I slowly turn to Jace.

“Jace-” Before I could say anything Jace shakes his head and walks out the door. He slams the door shut making me jump, a tear falling. Why am I even upset? I haven’t known Jace long and I only know him as the man who locked me up.

I walk out of the room and slowly down the hall, no one stopping me. I walk through the building making it all the way to the front door. I take one look behind me and I can see Jace standing at the top of the steps looking down at me. His eyes almost cold and calculating with a hint of hurt behind them. I look down and slowly walk out the door shaking my head. I pull my jacket closer to me walking to the gates knowing Jace is watching from a window. I stop at the large gate and as I look over my right shoulder right two demons materialize behind me and I can see Jace start to run out the door as one of the demons touched my shoulder and we disappear. I can hear Jace yelling for me, I just close my eyes and go with the demons.

Suddenly I appear at my fathers home in the Underworld. The demons drop their arms. The one on my right leaves his hand on my shoulder for a brief moment before dropping it. Pain and Panic are my dads henchmen. He must have asked that I be collected. I turn around to look at the henchmen and they look the same as I remember. Pain, whose real name is Deimos, he stood about 6 feet tall and had raven black hair that stopped right at his eyes, his eyes were as blue as the Caspian Sea with tattoos down both arms and on his neck. Panic, whose real name is Phobos, looked very similar to Deimos the only difference is Phobos doesn’t have tattoos and his eyes are emerald green. They are the twin boys of Ares and Aphrodite, Gods in their own right.

“Pain, Panic, what does my father need now?” I ask slowly turning towards them.

“You know he never gives us a reason so why do you bother asking.” Phobos snaps and walks away. Phobos never really liked me much.

“Deimos, why does he want to see me?” I ask looking down at the ground wishing I could just curl up and hide forever.

“Hades didn’t give us a why. Just told us to collect his Angel.” Deimos says tucking a strand of hair behind my ear and lifting my chin so I am looking at him. “He is in his office.” With that Deimos walks away and I make my way to my fathers office. When I enter Hades is sitting on the edge of his desk waiting for me.

“Anastasia, other packs are falling under Maleficent. I allowed you to take a break and now your break is over. She needs to be stopped. Why are you holding back? Doesn’t she deserve to be punished for taking those children!?” Hades all but yells standing up straight. I stand straight and my expression hardens.

“Don’t. Do not stand there and act like you care. What’s holding me back is this is my mother I have to kill. MY MOTHER!” I yell balling my hands up and glaring at him. My eyes shimmer purple and Hades stands up glaring at me. With a wave of his hand his office door slams shut and locks.

“You listen to me, and listen closely. I am a God and you will do as I tell you, Daughter. I brought you into this world and I can take you out. I know all about having to kill a parent, my father wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine.” Hades spits at me, standing in front of me. I glare at him and he glares back leaning back against his desk, “and stop glaring at me.”

Suddenly air started whirling around us and when we look towards the fireplace we hear the fire crackle and the flames turn green, a sign of my mother. A small explosion happens in front of us stands a vision of my mother surrounded by green flames.

“Oh Anya and your already where I need you to be. Hades, darling you look... Dead tired.” Maleficent snorts laughing. “Anya I have a task for you.”

“What would that task be mother? Kill the pups in the pack.... oh you already did that.” I say rolling my eyes crossing my arms.

“Oh don’t act like those wolves actually cared about you. Your a magic wielding, dragon/serpent shifting demi-goddess by all records you should be locked up somewhere. They feared you. Us. They were going to kill us, but that’s off topic, I have a young man here who knows you have a particular crystal I want. I found him looking for you after some very cute demons took you away. I could see that Pain and Panic in his eyes. The Pain was hotter though.” I hear her start to cackle again. She walked around where ever she was and suddenly Jace comes into view. My eyes get wide and I lunge for the flames, Hades grabs me quickly around my waist.

“Anastasia!? Where am I? Where are you?” I hear a panicked Jace say looking around.

“Jace!? Hold on! I will come find you!” My eyes get wide looking at his flame image. “MOTHER WHERE ARE YOU AT!?” I roar the question as Hades struggles to hold me in place my hands turning into claws.

“Anastasia Beta Alexandra Basilia, do not raise your voice to your mother.” My mother says with boredom dripping off all the words. “This hunk is safe away from witches. Only dragons can enter here.” She says grabbing his cheeks and moving his head around. Suddenly the flames go back into the fireplace and she ends the communication. Hades lets me go and I hurry to where Jace was just standing.

“NO! Mother!” I look up at Hades anger in my eyes. “What did I do? She will kill him!” Hades eyes soften when he sees the panic in my eyes.

“She won’t do anything to him. You didn’t do anything your mother is just evil. She has had years of practice.” Hades says pulling me into a hug. He rests his chin on my head as I sobbed.

“I really wish she hadn’t gotten to this.” I say taking a step back. “No more tears. I need to go save my mate. If he still wants me that is.”
