The Muses

Chapter 10

I look around frantic and I spot a jar with a metal lid. "Deimos! Put holes in the lid and bring it too me!" He uses his dagger and makes hole in a lid and hands everything to me. As I put the bearded dragon in the jar and secure it with the lid Deimos takes his helmet off and I look over at Jace. I slowly stand up and walk over to him blasting the chains off his wrists. He looked peaceful like he was sleeping and I move his hair from his face. Jace stirs and slowly opens his eyes looking right at me.

"Anya?" Jace croaks looking confused for a moment and looked around the cave. I give a small nod with a slight smile.

"Hey Jace." I hear a shuffle of feet and I turn towards Deimos who is looking around the cave not paying us any mind.

"You brought Russell Crowe with you?" Jace says with a small smile really looking at me. I give a small snort.

"He only wishes he was Russell Crowe." I look back over my left shoulder at Deimos again. "Jace, can you stand?" Jace nods and uses the wall to stand up. Jace takes a step towards the cave entrance and stumbles. I put myself in front of him catching him. "Deimos, help him. Please." Deimos jogs over and steadies Jace.

I grab the jar and follow them out of the cave. I hand the jar to Deimos, "Hold on." I walk back into the cave and shift into my dragon Saphira. Saphira is a light blue dragon with a silver belly. She walks out of the cave and motions for the boys to get on her back. Once they are on her she jumps and glides to the clearing where Alpha Elijah stood with Beta Luke and someone new, Collin Moore, Jace's dad.

When we land Collin starts to get into a fighting stance but Alpha Elijah holds his hand out and without taking his eyes off me he explains, "That's Saphira. Don't." Collin looks confused for a second as Deimos and Jace slide off Saphira's back before I shift back wearing my black Greek dress with gold belt and gold head piece. I take the jar from Deimos and walk up to the three men.

"Collin. Nice to see you again." I walk up holding the jar in my hand, "Alpha Elijah, as Maleficent's only child I offer you Maleficent in her banished form. You decide her fate, if you would like I have a suggestion as to what her punishment should be." I hand Alpha Elijah the jar and he looks at the bearded dragon and sees the familiar green eyes of his former Luna.

"What do you suggest I do?" Alpha Elijah says quirking up an eyebrow.

"I have a half sister. I'm sure you have heard of her, Melinoe, she is the Goddess of Nightmares and Madness. She just loves bearded dragons." I say with a slight chuckle. Deimos chuckles as well.

"She's not wrong. Melinoe has been trying to get Bo to buy her one." Deimos gives a half smile.

"As much as I would love to see Maleficent die for her crimes I couldn't see my former mate die. Make sure she is punished accordingly Anya." Alpha Elijah hands her back to me and I nod.

Jace stands with his father and Alpha Elijah nods walking away with his Beta. Collin glares at me and I hand the jar to Deimos and walk over to them. "Jace. I need to talk to you. Please." Collin watches us as we walk to the side.

I take a deep breath and I look down with tears in my eyes. When we finally stopped Jace cups my cheek and pulls my face up looking at him, "Go, deal with your mom. You know where to find me." Jace kisses my forehead as I look down and he motions for him and his dad to walk away.

"No. Jace, we need-" I look up and see they are already gone. I turn towards Deimos who was leaning against a tree with the jar under his foot. "You can take us to Bo and Melinoe, right?" I ask him as I walk over to him.

"Yeah, do you want to change or do you keep looking like we stepped out of the Caesar Casino?" He asked motioning to our clothes. I look at the two of us and laugh and with a wave of my hands I'm back to my jeans, hoodie, and converse and Deimos is wearing his jeans, leather jacket and combat boots.

"Alright lets go and see my sister." I say picking the jar up and looking down at the dragon in it. Suddenly the world around us shifts and we are standing in a very bright field with apple, orange and grapefruit trees in lines on our left and fields of wheat to the right. We walk straight down a path and find a clearing with a bunch of nymphs running about giggling.

I look around for a pink haired, red eyed girl and finally see standing in front of Phobos at a picnic table at the edge of the clearing. I walk up to them and clear my throat. Phobos opened his eyes and took a quick step back.

"Bo?" Melinoe says confused and slowly turns around. The spitting image of her mother, Melinoe looks at me confused for a second. "Anastasia? What? How?"

"Melinoe, Goddess of Nightmares and Madness, daughter of Hades, God of the Underworld and Kore, Goddess of Spring and Nature, Sister. I have a favor to ask of you." I say holding the jar close. She looks at the jar and back at me.

"What is this favor you ask of me, Sister?" Melinoe asks folding her hands in front of her. I glance behind me and I see Deimos and Demeter talking quietly.

"I need you to do your worst with this one. This is Maleficent, Mistress of Evil, she has committed crimes against children, Packs and Covens. She doesn't deserve even this kindness. I also heard you wanted a bearded dragon." I say the last line with a small smile. Melinoe reaches out for the jar and holds it up looking at Maleficent.

"She's not so bad. Yes, I will care for her as she deserves." Melinoe smiles and turns around walking into the trees. I turn towards Deimos.

"Alright. Now to deal with your boyfriend. You know, as your fiancé I could be more jealous." Deimos says with chuckle. I roll my eyes side eyeing him. "Oh come on Anya... Don't be a sourpuss."

"Well D-" Deimos shoots a glare towards me. When we were kids I would call him D because I couldn't say Deimos. When I was able to say that he has made it very clear that, tbitchs his name and not D. Phobos at least lets people call him Bo.

I start walking back to where we came from and Deimos follows me till we get to the entrance and Deimos grabs my hand and we stand there for a moment and the world around us shifts into the dark woods outside Seattle, Washington.
