Ch 3

Rushing, I made it outside but only to find the black Bugatti speeding away. Any euphoric reactions that erupted inside of me, vanished leaving me longing for it. Breathlessly, I stood like a fool staring at the back of the car, slowly fading away. Did he not feel it? or was he trying to be oblivious to it? Either way, he wasn't getting away with this when I would find him. I shook the thoughts out of my head, even though my whole body was now yearning to see and feel him. "Are you alright?" the woman who had arrived with my mate asked. I turned to her and smiled, "Yes, thank you." "I noticed you were coming out of my boutique, I am assuming you're here for a dress?" Her response was polite like her appearance. She had a slender figure but sharp features, looking beautiful. "Oh, so you are Miss Boone," I said extending my hand. "Audrey Boone." She shook it. "Raya Dawson. I have to say my sisters are a fan of your work." I stated, doubting it now since they couldn't find the perfect dress for me. Although another question lingered at the back of my mind. What was she doing with my mate? Something shifted in her expression hearing my name. "I am honoured, though forgive me but, I thought Mr Henry Dawson had only two daughters." Even confused, she managed to stay as elegant as possible. Her knowledge about my family surprised me, which meant she was a werewolf too. Yes, my family was influential, but not enough for any human to know the number of children in it. "Well, I am the oldest and have just come back after a long time...so it makes sense if everyone's forgotten about me." I shrugged. "It's good to meet you." She smiled and then motioned me to follow her inside the shop. The thought of my mate and her being in the same car kept bugging me and I couldn't take it anymore. I took a moment to improvise it before opening my mouth. "I admire Bugattis, especially black ones." Well, it wasn't a lie I used to own one in Los Angeles. "I have to say you have exquisite taste in cars." I started it off while referring to their car. She chuckled before waving off, "Oh, no- it wasn't mine. It was my fiance dropping me off." My mouth went dry. What the actual f**k. Was I that late in finding him that he didn't even bother to wait for me, let alone try to look for me? I gulped slowly, a sinking feeling engulfing me. "I had no idea-" I said pointing towards her hand, which held no ring. "Yeah actually, it's not official but after tonight-" Audrey didn't get the chance to complete her sentence when the store worker from earlier interrupted her. "Miss Boone, can I have a word with you?" She took Audrey to a side. Winnie and Esme had also come out with her only to give me weird glares. "What?" I asked. They glared even more. I raised a brow, questionably. I knew what was going through their head but before they could question, Audrey told us to follow her. She took us to her VIP section and revealed some of the most beautiful dresses I had ever seen. I had to say my mate had secured himself a fine designer, although her career was not as flourishing as mine she was a remarkable woman. It didn't matter now though, did it? He might not even find me ever once he would mark her. That would strip him of the right to have me as a mate and naturally, he would stop feeling my presence and so would I. "Spill every f*****g thing, Raya!" Esme shouted the moment we got into the car. I stayed quiet, looking somewhere distant. "Did you find him?" Winnie asked out of sheer curiosity. I didn't reply, which was enough of an answer for the two of them. "It's fine, you'll probably find him tonight. Every werewolf is gonna be there." "He's engaged." my words came out louder than I wanted them to sound. My built-up frustration and emotions came out undone. I inhaled deeply to avoid anger to overtake me and transform me into a wolf. As a soon-to-be Luna, it was even more important to control my emotions. The car went eerily silent. Esme shut down the engine and cursed. "I'll murder him in cold blood." Her anger was evident and so was Winnie's. "How can he do this to you?!" "He can. Audrey Boone is a lot better than me and I wasn't even around. I bet he thought I didn't exist." The words made my jaw clench and my heart ache. How can that woman dare to be with a man who was somebody else's mate? but she did a better job at being a partner than I had. I should have known that escaping years ago, might have saved me from embarrassment and dishonour caused by Zayden Castillo, but it would cost me my love life and the prime time to find my mate too. My sisters gave me the most amazing motivational talk of their lives where they declared their once favourite designer as a home wrecker or "mate bond wrecker", to be specific but nothing made me feel better. Once we got home, I rushed to my room. I got into the shower and let my wolf take over. I wasn't the only one who needed to mourn, my wolf was just as hurt. White fur covered me from head to toe as my bones adjusted with resounding cracks and my eyes turned a shade of golden. I was one of the few white wolves alive, we were rare but were known to possess unknown strengths according to some myths. A low whimper escaped me followed by weak howls. Was that how a wolf felt after discovering that it had lost its mate? My energy was drained and it was a clear answer to my question. My limbs trembled and I felt weaker. I immediately shifted back to my human form and stared at myself in disbelief. What's wrong with my wolf? A shiver rippled through me. It would go away itself - I told myself. Though I knew one thing for sure. I needed answers from him and I would get them tonight. -------------------------------------------
