I put a hand on his shoulder, steadying him. “And even if Lucien waits, even if he drags this out, she’s ours to protect. We need two of us with her at all times. No mistakes.”
Cassius nodded, pacing, ears twitching. “My wolf’s itching for action. I can’t just sit here.”
“Good,” I said. “Do a perimeter check. Keep watch. Stay sharp. One wrong move and we could lose her or worse.”
He shot me a look, fierce and determined. “No one’s getting past me.”
I watched him disappear around the cabin, alert and ready. My chest tightened. Selena didn’t know it yet, but every step she took, every breath she drew, could put her in danger.
