Lucien POV Cassius reached for Selena, offering to take her from my arms, but I couldn’t let her go not yet. Something deep inside me stiffened at the thought of being apart from her. I’d almost lost her once before, and the memory still burned. My wolf had been restless, thrashing against the limits of my control as we waited outside Jareth’s office. Every sound from beyond the closed door the shuffle of feet, the faint murmur of voices made our hearts pound. Our senses were sharp, finely tuned, and every whisper seemed magnified.
