Joey was blushing just as hard as I was. He turned around to the counter where he was chopping up an array of vegetables. I could spot carrots, onions, celery, and potatoes. He went back to chopping as if nothing had gone arise. Dave grabbed whatever he’d been looking for and turned back to me.  He opened the can of what I could now see was peanuts and began to pop them into his mouth.
