Chapter 33: One Simple Confession
Samantha POV…
Minutes after Steven left, I still didn’t want to believe he had really come. I wanted to believe it was a dream, an evil dream I wouldn’t have to carry in my heart. But life doesn’t work that way.
It was real. Clear as day.He had been here.
His wicked chuckle replayed in my head, over and over. The way his eyes had widened when they fell on my stomach. The way he had struggled to believe it at first.
I dug my fingers into my hair and sank weakly to the floor. “Just when I thought it was over,” I whispered, biting my lip to keep from crying. “Just when I thought all I had to do was avoid Adrian until the contract ended.”
I hit my chest, trying to calm the pain building inside me.
