Samantha POV…..
“No! It can’t be.”
I turned slowly, and just like I expected, my eyes landed on Adrian Wolfe. He stood by the wall, his eyes piercing into mine, and beside him stood the maid, the one who made this escape possible.
For a moment, I chose to ignore everything, to believe it was all a lie, but that only made me look stupid. I gulped, looking up, my heart almost bursting out of my chest.
I didn’t know what to do, whether to run, kneel, or simply disappear. My eyes narrowed to the maid’s face, wanting to understand why she did this to me. Then the words rolled off her lips gently, “I am sorry.”
