Chapter 28: An Unexpected Twist
Samantha POV………..
My legs hollowed as I stood at the extreme end of the stairs. I stretched my hands beneath my knees, dragging my gown, hoping it would close up my fully exposed thighs. But it didn’t help, it was a skimpy dress, not designed to stretch.
Standing there, I could hear the voices of the men, and uneasiness kicked in immediately.
Once again, I held my racing heart and tried to encourage myself, “It’s just for six months. Just for six months.” I took a deep breath in an attempt to ease my tension.
Gathering all the courage left in me, I took my first step towards the parlour, then another and another, my heels romancing the floor with each step I made.
They made a creaking sound of confidence, and somehow it pushed me to go further.
