Samantha POV…
I didn’t say anything. His smile lingered, as if I hadn’t asked a question at all.
“I…” His voice died as soon as it started. Slowly, his eyes widened in shock, then dropped, settling on my stomach.
“What happened to the pregnancy? Why are you no longer pregnant?”
My heart nearly jumped out of my body.
“I thought you were pregnant, Samantha. Why are you no longer pregnant?” His eyes stayed fixed on my stomach, unblinking.
“What’s going on here? Why aren’t you saying anything? Why aren’t you answering my questions?”
My legs shook violently, and my heart begged the ground to open and swallow me. “I…” The words refused to come.
