Chapter Thirteen
Victoria woke to find the sun was already high in the sky, heating the red dirt to too-hot-to-touch. She’d had a restless night. Her skin refused to stop tingling where Dan had rubbed her legs and it had nothing to do with the ointment. Her imagination had kicked into overdrive around midnight, and the not-forgotten feeling of his hands massaging her legs soon developed into a fully fledged scenario in her mind that’d kept her from sleep most of the night.
She rubbed the graininess from her eyes, ran her fingers through her hair and tied it into a loose ponytail. It was a tangled mess from tossing and turning. She discarded her nightwear and dressed. She slipped her shorts on, inspecting the bites on her legs which were now only red marks, the pain totally gone.
