CHAPTER FOUR

Hi

“Hop in.” He said, opening the door to the car.

“Did I ask for your help?” I responded and kept on walking.

I heard the sound of the door being locked and the car zoomed off right before my eyes. “How dare he!” I said holding onto my fist.

I walked and I was already tired when I got home. I jumped into my bed in excitement thinking of all that happened at the restaurant. My grandmother will be treated and I'll take over my father's company. That is all that matters to me. I can't wait to bring my grandma to the city and we live together as we've always been.

Tomorrow is my day off from work and I'll have to go to the countryside to check on my grandmother.

I was still smiling at my thoughts when I slept off.

I woke up very late the following morning and I quickly sprinted into the bathroom and had the best bath in a while. I left the bathroom and started preparing to go to my grandmother in the countryside. I packed some fruits and I grabbed my bag and phone and dashed out of the room. I walked to the closer bus station and took a bus going to the countryside. All my mind was how my grandmother would get better and get the business back.

I was still lost in thought when my phone rang. “What does he want again?” I said,as I sluggishly picked up the call.

“What do you want to say, again?” I asked without even allowing him to talk first.

“I think you will have to learn some manners.” He said.

“I owe you manners.” I responded.

“Whatever! I already called the hospital your grandmother is and I've forwarded the necessary amounts to them for her treatment. He said and hung up before I could say anything.

“So fast?” I said to myself, smiling as I look forward to seeing my grandmother in her porcelain flawless skin.

After several hours of driving,we got to the park and I had to get off the bus. I stood for a few minutes and I saw a free taxi coming my way. I stopped it and told him to take me to the hospital and he zoomed off immediately.

It's been a while since I came here and everything here still looks the same like it always was. The car dropped me in front of the hospital and I got down holding onto my bag and basket of fruits as I walked towards the hospital.

I met my grandmother's caregiver on the way into her ward and she greeted me with beautiful smiles planted on her face.

I entered the room and met the doctor attending to her at the moment.

“Hi,miss,” he greeted me with a smile.

“Hi, doctor. How is she doing?” I asked him, trying to be sure of her condition.

“She's responding to treatments and your husband already made the payments for her treatment till she leaves here.” He said, smiling.

“Husband? Is this what he told them? The guy is definitely as crazy as he seems.” I said to myself before faking a smile when I noticed the doctor was looking at me.

“I'm glad she's now receiving the treatment she should have received months ago.” I said,holding onto her hand and smiling.

“I'll come back to check up on her later.” said the doctor as he walked towards the entrance of the ward.

My joy knew no bounds when I saw that my grandmother was getting the treatment she deserved but I couldn't afford. I held onto her hands and prayed for a few minutes before I stopped when my phone beeped.

It was a message from Lucas. “You'll be meeting my family tomorrow.” The message, implied.

“Why is everything moving this fast? Well,I don't care as much as my grandmother is taken care of and I can take over the company.” I said , smiling at the message before I returned the phone back to my phone.

I picked up my phone again to check some trending news when I felt that my grandmother's hand moved. I waited for a few seconds and it happened again.

I rushed to the doctor's office to tell him about it and we both rushed to the ward together. He brought out his stethoscope and placed it on her chest and looked at me. “She's expected to recover faster than we thought.” He said looking at her again before he left.

I brought out a towel and started cleaning up her body with the towel and clean water. After that,I went out of the hospital to get free air when I felt someone behind me. I turned to look back and it turned out to be Lucas.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, surprisingly.

“I'm here to see my mother in law.” He said , walking towards the ward.

“Don't you work?” I asked to satisfy my curiosity.

“How is that your business? He asked,still walking towards the ward without looking back.

I huffed and walked after him as he entered the ward. “Thank you so much for the bill's payment.” I said, looking remorseful.

“Can you give thanks? Wow,this is new.” He said, making a joke of me.

“Whatever!” I responded,sitting beside my grandmother on the bed.

I looked closely into her eyes and I could remember those days when she was agile and doing menial jobs just to send me to school and put food on the table. I smiled looking at her and thinking of those days.

“The day we've been expecting is here grandmother.” I said to myself, murmuring.

“You should wear these to meet with my parents tomorrow.” He said handing a bag containing clothes and shoes to me as he stood up and went out of the ward.
