Chapter Two Flora's POV I was rushing to serve the order of the customers that had been sitting for a while when I bumped into someone. “I'm so sorry” I said, raising my eyes to look at him. My gaze caught a glimpse of the handsome guy standing in front of me. I was drooling over him and I stood at the same spot looking at him when his vulgar voice sent me out of my thoughts. “What do you think you're doing?” He yelled at me which sent shivers down my spine. I quickly looked down, shivering when his voice pierced my heart with a fast beat. I rushed into the store and brought out the mopping stick and started to clean the floor till it was sparkling. “And what should I do with my clothes?” He asked, making me scared. “Why is he cute when he is this mean and rude?” I asked myself, making sure I didn't say that out loud. He later ran out of the cafe annoyingly. I just hoped my boss doesn't see what just happened because today is my first day at work and I never wanted anything that'll affect my work to happen. I started working at the cafe to take care of my grandmother who is on the sick bed. She took care of me since my parents had a ghastly car accident which claimed their lives when I was 9. My parents' businesses were willed to me but I can only take over his company when I get married which was the clause on the will made before their death. This was only known by my grandmother and I. We both left the city and went to the countryside where we both lived since then and the company was handed over to my father's uncle who was the vice president when my father was alive. He wanted us to stay in the city with him but grandma already made up her mind. I rushed back to the counter to get another drink for the customers I've been keeping waiting. I served them all and I walked back to the counter when I remembered to call My Uncle and decided to call him if he can help out with grandma's health. I called his number but it was no longer in existence. He gave us the number when we were leaving the city for us to call him but grandma only saved it and never called him now the number is no longer available. I left the countryside to come to the city so that I can get a job that will pay a huge salary, unlike the pay in the countryside. It seems like the whole world is crumbling on me and I don't know what else to do. I was lost in my thoughts when something came into my mind. I decided to go to the company to meety uncle to talk to him about grandma's health. I can't leave work right now,I'll have to wait till we close and I'll go there. “Flora!” I could hear Nelson calling out for me. “Yes, Nelson.” I responded walking towards him when he pointed to the customers and asked me to go and attend to them. I walked towards them and gave the menu to them all to make their orders which they did and I walked back to Nelson and gave the orders to him. He prepared it all and I delivered it to them all and came back to where I was sitting. A lot of customers came in and went out of the cafe and it's finally getting late. The cafe closed very late and I couldn't go to my Uncle's office. After the cafe was locked, I went home , thinking of the time that'll be suitable to meet with him and ask him for his help. I continued calling his contact to know if it would later go through but it never did. I bumped into my bed and slept off. *************************************************** The beeping of the alarm woke me up. “It's 5am already?” I questioned myself as I picked up my phone to confirm the time. I jumped out of the bed and began to prepare to go to work. I dashed into the bathroom and had a quick shower. I rushed out of the bathroom and started getting dressed to work. I ransacked my bag to get a suitable cloth but it seems hard for me because my clothes are old and I couldn't afford to get new ones. I finally saw one and picked it up and quickly put it on. I picked up my phone and bag and ran out of the house so that I could catch up with the first bus at the park. I got to the park when the bus almost moved but I quickly had to run after it and it stopped for me after a few minutes. I entered the bus, panting as I found myself a seat. I sat down still panting when my phone beeped. It was a message from my school group talking about a reunion party. I had to ignore the messages because I clearly know that I can't be there. I was bullied back then in college. I was nick-named the poor girl from the countryside. I had my college education in the city where I met with different people with different hearts and behaviors. I got bullied one day when I was almost injured when a guy came out from nowhere and took me out of the scene. I thanked him and asked for his name but he said nothing and all he did was walk away leaving me in surprise. Since then,I never heard of him or met with him in the school and also, noore bullying. A drop of tear fell from my face while thinking of the past and I quickly wiped it off before anyone could notice it. I got to my destination and dropped from the bus, walking into the cafe. I got there earlier than the others and I started the day by sweeping and cleaning up the workplace. I was still cleaning when my boss walked into the office and Nelson came afterwards. After cleaning, I joined Nelson in preparing the drinks and a few minutes later, customers started trooping in. I started taking their orders and serving it to them. I was with Nelson trying to serve another order when I caught a glimpse of the guy from the other day. My heart beats faster and my jaw clenches seeing him. I had to walk in front of him to the customer I wanted to serve. After serving the customer,I walked back and was on my way back to Nelson when his voice made me stiff in a posture. “Won't I be attending today as well?” He said and I groaned in anger before I turned to him. “Oh….. I'm sorry. I never knew someone was there.” I responded. “I'm so tiny that you couldn't see me huh?” He shouted at me, rudely. I rushed to his table and gave the menu to him to ask for his preference. “I don't need this, I want that exact coffee you poured on me yesterday.” He said in a straight tone. “What is he driving at?” I asked myself, looking at him before I walked away from his table. “Is he still annoyed over the mistake that happened yesterday?” Nelson asked, feeling pity for me. “I don't even understand him.” I responded, looking at his direction only for our eyes to meet with each other and I quickly turned back to Nelson. “This is the coffee, Flora.” Nelson said, putting the coffee in the tray and I walked back to him with my heart in my mouth. “This is it.” I said and was about to leave when his voice called me back. “Hey, you're not even remorseful for what you did yesterday, huh.” He said, with a frown in his eyes. “I.I...I'm sorry for what happened yesterday.” I stammered, with my face looking downward. “I no longer need your apology.” He said. Then, what else does he want? Why is he even bringing up what has happened in the past? Different thoughts and questions kept running through my head. He threw his business card at me and leaned back into the chair looking into my eyes. “Call the number on that card and I'll call you back in the evening for you to meet me up this evening and there's no late coming.” He said, picking up his coffee and he took a sip of it before dropping it and looking back at me. “There's no reason for you not to pick up when I called and you must call me with your contact now.” He said, authoritatively as he stood up and walked out of the cafe with his secretary following him as they both walked out of the cafe. I walked back to Nelson and dropped the tray in front of him and found myself a seat. After several thoughts,I thought of calling him with my contact but he didn't pick up. “What a rude jerk!” I cursed at him and I hissed looking at my phone. I couldn't wait for the night to come and see what he had to say. Different thoughts kept running through my head and I couldn't fully concentrate on work as my mind was on whatever it is that he might want to talk about. Finally, the night is here and we're already closed for the day. I was about to walk out of the cafe when my phone rang and it was a strange number. I picked up, wondering who it might be when I heard the voice from the other end. “This crazy jerk!” I said, gritting my teeth . “Are you going to keep me waiting out here?” He said and hung up on me. I looked outside from inside and saw him standing by his car with his cute , innocent face. “What am I thinking of?” I said, slapping my face as I walked out of the cafe and walked towards his car. “Why do you want to see me?” I asked, looking straight into his eyes. “You're off work and you now have the guts to talk back to me.” He said, laughing. His laughs annoyed me and I gave him a dirty look. He opened his car and asked me to enter. “When we get to the place, you'll know why I called you.” He said. “I'm not going anywhere with you unless you tell me your reasons.” I said, not moving an inch from where I was standing. “Then I'll have to carry you in,then.” He said, wanting to carry me but I stopped him and entered by myself. We drove for a few minutes before the car dropped in front of a huge restaurant. “Here we are.” He said, opening the door and getting out of the car. I opened the door from my side and got down from the car. I walked to the other side where he and his secretary were standing and we all walked into the restaurant. We entered and walked down to the VIP section. We all sat down and I was waiting for him to say what he wanted to say and ask from me. “What would you like to take?” He asked, looking directly into my eyes. “I'm not taking anything. Just tell me the reason why you brought me here.” I said, with a straight face. “Let's move down to business then.” He said, looking closely into my eyes as his secretary brought out a brown envelope and dropped it on the table. “What could this be?” I asked myself as I stretched forth my hand to take the envelope and check the content.
