CHAPTER 6

“Where would you like me to drop you off?” Hades inquired of the woman. “Rebecca,” She muttered under her breath. “What?” With the buzzing city noise surrounding them as he drives along Larkspur's busiest streets, Hades could hardly hear her. The city, famous for its skyline buildings and infrastructure, is a promising haven for all business people, similar to Hades. “My name is Rebecca, sir. I'm sorry. It was so rude of me not to mention my name.” Hades doesn't seem to mind either. It makes no difference to him whether he knows her name or not, because once he drops her off, it's all over. “So, Rebecca, where do you want me to drop you off?” At the end, Hades asked, acknowledging her name. Rebecca smiled as she heard her name from Hades. She couldn't hide it from him, so she quickly thought of glancing away from him to avoid the humiliation that had already stained across her face. Hades, on the other hand, tried hard not to look at her. While he waited for her response, he kept his gaze fixed on the road. Trying to ignore her gaze was a simple effort for Hades. For many years, he had mastered the skill of isolating himself from practically everyone, even women. Because the woman he has been looking for has not yet appeared in his life. And Hades seems to have been saving himself for that ideal woman. Rebecca finally responded, “You can just drop me on the next outpost.” Hades simply nods. He avoided looking at Rebecca again in order to keep his focus on the road. He's still astonished as to how someone like Rebecca could make him think in such an indecent manner, where all of his years of seclusion seemed to be thrown away in an instant. What is it about Rebecca that makes his heart pound, especially after their bodies were so close? Hades isn't generally this way with other women, but Rebecca is an exception. She is simply too different from the other ladies who have attempted to gain Hades' favor. Rebecca was just too difficult to clear from his head that he couldn't get rid of the lingering aroma of rose and ambrosia blend from his nose that had been poisoning his mind with explicit thoughts. “Sir, are you sure there isn't anything I can do to repay you?” Rebecca brought up the subject again. It was a bad thing for Hades' end that she had to bring it up again. Hades was doing everything he could to keep his focus on the road and away from her. But, for the time being, he must maintain his composure and refrain himself from saying anything stupid in response to her inquiry. “I've already given you my response. Was I not clear?” Rebecca simply shut herself off and adjusted her gaze after hearing Hades' sharp voice. After hearing Hades' response, she found herself slouching on the edge of her seat, feeling small and somewhat humiliated. The next few minutes went like a sequence of dull moments that eventually allowed Hades to focus on the road. Hades was keenly aware that Rebecca might be implying something that would only reignite his wild fantasies. It will only be a burdensome trouble if that happens again for Hades. As they drive towards the next station, Hades relaxes his tie a little further while giving much thought about what’s deep in Rebecca’s mind. But it appears that fate had another plan to continue pushing Hades' limitations when the sky became so dark that the stars were no longer visible in the night sky. He was confused as to how it had come to be that way when there had not been a single weather report predicting heavy rain for the day. They were only a few blocks away from the outpost when the heavy rain began to pelt the ground relentlessly. As the loud splash could still be heard inside the car by the two, each drop felt like an intense downpour. He had already decided that driving Rebecca out of the area would be the last time he’ll extend his hand to her. But it appears that fate has other plans for them, as a heavy downpour devastates his mood and evening. If he leaves Rebecca wandering the streets in the rain, he will be filled with remorse throughout the night. She won't be able to stay at the outpost long, waiting for daybreak. He is once again lost in thought, not only about Rebecca's plans once he drops her off, but also about his own. It's starting to irritate him that he seems overly worried for her. Hades attempted to rescind his worry. If he had to stop being involved in her mess, he shouldn't be worried about what would happen to her from here. However, it was not as simple as Hades had imagined. “I can see the outpost from here.Thank you so much for your help, Sir.” Rebecca said, placing her palm on his right thigh. Hades eventually roused from his trance. “Goddamn it!” He replied as he maneuvered the steering in the opposite direction, completing a u-turn away from the outpost. “Excuse me, Sir, but the outpost was over there,” Rebecca said, surprised and astonished by Hades' actions. Rebecca has become a little more cautious with her reactions as a result of his voice being a little firmer than before. "I understand," Hades replied. Rebecca's unexpected touch was what brought him back to reality. Who on earth is she? Hades keeps asking himself questions, but the answers are always elusive. “But—” Hades abruptly let out a sigh, which cut Rebecca off. "Didn't you say you wanted to repay me? ” “Sir, yes.” “Well then, I have something for you to do.” “What exactly is it?” Rebecca became so intrigued that she couldn't stop herself from questioning Hades incessantly. Hades, who was becoming irritated by her never-ending questions, forced himself to put up with it. He tried to keep his rage from exploding against her once more. Although he badly wanted to lash out at her, Hades is easily restrained after gazing into Rebecca's guiltless amber eyes. “You'll know when we get there.” Hades fixed his gaze on the road, but Rebecca grabbed his arm and asked, “Where, sir?” It sounded so naturally seductive that Hades couldn't stop himself from looking at her. “M-my house.” Hades, too, couldn't believe it, yet he had just stammered in front of a woman. Rebecca, a woman who is totally opposite to the woman he actually desired. Right now, Hades hopes that his inner monster would settle down as the fire within him steadily suffocates him, especially after Rebecca moved herself closer to him again, provoking him and his sanity to lose control
