Chapter seven- Mrs Victoria

1166 Words
On the morning of the next day, as usual we got up exactly at six o’clock. I helped my mom set up the food stall before I started for school. I wasn’t planning on going to school much longer, complete waste of a demon’s valuable time. I was only meanwhile doing this as I racked my brain on how I was going to get powerful and rich. “Shane dear” mom called to me. I turned to see her waving me something in her hand. “I just told you goodbye like two seconds ago, what is it?” I smiled walking back “You don’t have to walk to school today” she handed me some change “Mom” I protested slowly pushing back her hand. I knew very well how each coin and money she earned mattered to our survival. “Yesterday the sales were good…” “No mom, they weren’t… I checked our savings.” I held her arm “You don’t have to be worried about me anymore, I promise I won’t get attacked again…ever” I said seriously as I stared into her worried eyes “I just…I don’t want anything to happen again…just take” “No mom” I hugged her affectionately “you don’t have to worry, I’ll be safe. You don’t have to be afraid for me anymore” “I’m getting late for school, bye mom” I said “And make sure you have a good day” It’s always a wonder how mothers sometimes exhibit various traits of some animals. Like an eagle, they always want to watch over their young ones and make sure they are fed. Like a lioness to her cubs, they offer the protection and care. Like a chicken with chicks, a mother would rather not eat and have her kids do, they would rather stay unprotected in the face of danger but make their kids safe. Mothers are like an emblem of love, care and protection in the world. Actually I have never seen a mother who hates her kid no matter how some kids act like douchebags some times. Whatever my mom did just now only served to strengthen my will in wanting to get us out of the current situation. Normally a walk to school would take about thirty minutes if you followed the long route filled with people. If you followed the shortcut, it would take half the time. As logic stated, it was smart for me to avoid the shortcut. A normal Shane Nostra would follow the logic but too bad the current Shane Nostra was not normal. As a matter of fact, I was far from being normal, I was a reincarnated demon lord. Though I still didn’t have my powers yet, I would rather cry than cower from danger. As I passed through the building where I witnessed the murder of that man and the attempted murder of the other woman, a lot of thoughts hit me. The building at the moment was sealed off in yellow duck tapes labeled crime scene. At the moment, I even saw some men in black suits walking around taking pictures, detectives maybe. Even after three days had passed, the area was still an active crime scene. This served to prove that whoever was killed and the killers had very big identities…and I was a witness. Right now I just wished the men who killed me would come again, I would let them have a taste of being shot at. I arrived at Southside high some minutes past seven o’clock since I might have lingered in the previous building thinking of different ways I would kill the men. Most of the students were already in their classes…only some latecomers such as me loitered in the school’s compound. Wow, look at that teacher. Is she the university graduate teaching us English in our class? I asked myself as I brushed my long hair behind my ear. She’s coming over, what do I do? What do I do? I started panicking…a demon lord panicking, that’s stupid. It didn’t take me long to figure out that only my soul inhabited the body, we shared the same mind, body and heart with the Shane Nostra from this timeline. According to him, she was the hottest teacher but she was a bit too old for him. I on the other hand, I was way older than her, I had lived more than a thousand years in my previous life. I was really, really old…in the soul. “Shane Nostra” the teacher called as she walked towards me. She wore high heels and a white dress that was almost short but not exactly short, just a bit over her knees. It was the kind of dress that said, hey I’m sexy and mature but also, ‘I’m your teacher and you are my student‘. She had short black hair that looked like it was ironed and green eyes, some people said those with green eyes were always kind. I didn’t think that was the case with Mrs. Victoria “Mrs. Victoria” I smiled in a friendly way. Were we friends? No, I don’t know. “You are late for my English class” she said sternly, like a teacher. What I saw was a young lady trying to act older than she really was. “So are you” I said “Excuse me” she raised a brow. Oh right, she was still my teacher. “I mean, you haven’t actually started the class so technically, I’m not late…” “You will be if I get there before you and that means detention for...” “Can I walk you to class?” I interrupted I realized I had rendered Mrs. Victoria speechless there for a moment. It almost seemed like I was trying to flirt with her. “Let me carry your books” I offered extending my arms with an innocent smile “Wha…What? Run along “she waved me away with slightly gaping eyes “if I get to the class before you” “okay, just trying to be nice” I smiled then walked leisurely to class. I could feel her eyes bore to the back of my skull, it wasn’t a tiny bit comfortable. Our noisy classroom , room twelve was the last stream of the twelfth grade class. As the name suggested, we were the last class, the underachieving one, the only class filled with students who weren’t so serious with their lives. The classroom wasn’t that big, only sizeable enough to fit sixty students in the max. My seat which was located at the back was currently occupied by Buch, my friend. His class was room three but he mostly liked to come and hang out here.
