Ellie knelt down and put her arms around her. “We don’t know if it was Derek. It might have been a delivery man or someone.”
“Nice try. A real delivery person would have answered you. Derek heard an unfamiliar voice and took off. I’m sure he thought I’d be alone.”
“Dani,” Paul said gently. “Pad and I are going downstairs to look around. Keep the door locked and don’t open it until we get back.”
