A Y L A The wolf was only a breath away from sinking its teeth into me. I saw every detail, its mouth wide open, its sharp fangs aimed at my face, its whole body stretched in the air like it was flying straight at me. I froze, certain this was the end. But then something white shot out from the side and smashed into the wolf so hard it knocked the breath out of me just watching it. It happened too fast for my eyes to follow, just a blur of bright fur and a loud crash as both wolves rolled across the ground. They slammed into the dirt, claws scraping, snarls ripping through the air. Then the brown wolf hit a thick tree with a heavy, awful sound that made the whole trunk tremble.
