CHAPTER THREE: THE SECRETARY

1185 Words
It had been more than a month since the incident in the restaurant happened. Jane decided to move on with her life and forget about the past. She moved out the apartment her and Eddie shared and even quit her job because she didn’t want to be anywhere near him. Finding a new apartment in New York was hard but she did. Using all her savings on rent, Jane was broke and ready to start over. But no matter how hard she tried, she always found herself thinking of the unknown man she kissed. She could still feel the impact of his kiss on her lips and every time she imagined it, she felt more shivers than the day it happened. She couldn’t forget the smell of his cologne or how his hands wrapped around her as while he nibbled on her ear lobe. Every time she thought about it she felt horny and wet. She was even starting to have dreams about him. “f**k,” she screamed, shaking her head as stood from her bed and inspected her new apartment. It was less spacious than her former apartment and there were a few cracks on the wall but to her, it was better than being with Eddie. In fact she didn’t want to hear anything about him again. She had cried enough and was ready to start afresh. The first thing she needed was money so the petite blonde decided the best thing to do was to find a new job. She picked up her laptop and searched on the web for job listings. She began to scroll down the page looking for the best job position for her. It didn’t take that long for her to find the perfect job. “VACANY POSITION FOR A PERSONAL SECRETARY AT BRADFORD EMPIRE”. The job description read. Reading through the requirements she discovered that she was more than qualified for the job. She was going to be the personal secretary of the CEO of a multi-billionaire dollar company and the pay was enormously huge, even better than she expected. She could use the extra money, to do a few repairs at the apartment and could even have a few extra bucks to save up. Jane quickly applied for the job without any hesitation and waited eagerly for the reply. Meanwhile Alexander Bradford was in the conference room having a meeting with top-level executives. He was listening to them pitch several ideas on how to expand the business. As he sat back and listened, his mind kept drifting back to the lady that he met at the restaurant restroom. Thinking of the incident made him chuckle a bit. The image of how she looked like a mess in the man’s bathroom but at the same time the he still found himself being attracted to her. And her eyes...... ...they were deep blue and reminded him of the beachside where he grew up in. “Mr Alexander,” Hugo, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) called out his name. He had just finished presenting his idea and had noticed that his boss wasn’t paying attention to him. “Mr Alexander,” Hugo’s voice brought Xander back to his surrounding and he watched as his staff stared at him in a weirdly. They all thought something was wrong with their boss. He was always alert and countered everything they said while pitching but today, it was as if he wasn’t here. “So what’s the conclusion?” Xander asked quickly leaning his elbows on the round table as he averted his eyes to and from each worker. He knew he was inappropriate of him to not pay attention to the concerns of his business and didn’t want his workers to think he was being non-chalant. “We’ve decided to advertise our businesses more on the internet, due to the increase of social medias and online activities in the world thereby reaching the masses,” Gia the company’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) replied. “Hugo also suggested that-,” “Where’s my secretary?” Xander asked cutting Gia off. He had noticed that no one was standing beside him waiting at his beck and call. He turned to Paula, the Human Resource Manager(HMR) and asked again. “Umm... Sir ... you fired her last week,” Paula stuttered, shocked by the question. Why was he asking her the question, as if he wasn’t the one that yelled at her to get out of his company and never return. All the workers had watched as his former secretary, Quinn ran out of his office crying, they weren’t surprised though, Xander disposed his secretaries at the slightest provocation. “I didn’t ask about Quinn,” Xander glared at her. “I asked about a secretary, I have a business meeting next week at France, Who do I take with me, who will arrange my schedule, Miss Paula?” he asked in the most annoying tone ever. Paula hated when he did that. If not that her pay was high plus all added bonuses Mr Xander paid his workers job, she would have quit a long time ago. “I’m so sorry sir,” she apologized, bowing her head. The conference room was quiet and no one dared to butt in. “I don’t need your apology, Paula, I need a secretary first thing tomorrow morning or you’re fired.” Xander stood up, straightened his suit-jacket and walked out of the conference room. Immediately he left, his workers began to murmur among themselves. “How can such a sexy guy be so cruel,” Brenda, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) asked finally breathing a sigh of relief. She had held it in for took long, no matter how hard she tried to hate him, Brenda had a huge crush on Xander. Who wouldn’t? Xander was the sexiest man in their office and the most attractive each and everyone of them had ever seen. He was all they talked about and him being their boss only made them lust after him more. But even with all their many tactics ranging from short skirts, tight shirts and numerous cleavages being shoved at his face, Xander never fell. For his rule always stood: Xander never had an affair with anyone working at his office. “I know right,” Gia said dramatically. “If I could just have him in my bed, the nasty things I will do to him,” Gia was deep in her dirty imaginations that Paula had to playfully elbow her to shake her out of it. “He’s our boss, the only thing we can do is admire him from afar and pray he doesn’t sack us,” she sighed massaging her forehead. She had stayed up all night reviewing the job applications and resumés that she didn’t get enough sleep. “Anyway, I need to get Mr Alexander a secretary or I will have to kiss my job goodbye and I need the money to pay off my students loan,” Paula said standing to her feet.
