Chapter 11: New Beginning
The silver light slowly disappeared.
One by one, the wolves lifted their heads.
Luna stood quietly, surprised by what had happened.
Damon was the first to approach her.
“Are you alright?”
Luna nodded.
“I think so.”
Kael walked toward them.
“Luna, you can't stay here. The temple is no longer safe.”
She looked at him.
“Where should I go?”
Kael hesitated.
Before he could answer, Damon spoke.
“My territory.”
Kael's expression hardened.
“Absolutely not.”
Damon ignored him.
“My people will protect her.”
“I don't trust you.”
Damon smiled.
“You don't have to.”
Luna looked between them.
Then she turned to Mia.
“What do you think?”
Mia shrugged.
“Honestly? I don't trust either Alpha. But Damon hasn't rejected you twice.”
Luna almost smiled.
She looked at Damon.
“Fine. I'll go with you.”
Kael's face fell.
“Luna…”
She stopped.
“I don't belong to you anymore.”
Kael looked away, unable to respond.
Damon offered his hand.
Luna stared at it for a moment before taking it.
As they walked away from the temple, Luna looked back once.
Kael was still standing there.
Their eyes met.
For a brief moment, she saw regret in his expression.
But Luna turned away.
She had spent too long looking backward.
Now it was time to discover who she could become.
By nightfall, the gates of Nightshade territory appeared ahead.
Luna didn't know it yet, but entering those gates would change her life forever.
Because Damon Nightshade was hiding a secret of his own.
