Chapter 12: Training
The gates of Nightshade territory opened slowly.
Luna expected to see a dark and frightening place.
Instead, she saw a powerful territory filled with warriors training in the courtyard.
The moment Damon entered, everyone bowed.
“Alpha.”
Damon nodded.
Then their eyes turned toward Luna.
Whispers immediately spread.
“Who is she?”
“Why did the Alpha bring her here?”
Damon's voice silenced them.
“She is under my protection.”
No one dared to question him.
Luna followed Damon into the main house.
“You're safe here,” he said.
“I don't want to depend on anyone.”
“I know.”
He looked at her silver mark.
“That is why you need to learn how to control your power.”
Luna frowned.
“You're going to train me?”
“If you're willing.”
She nodded.
“Then start tomorrow.”
Damon smiled.
“No. Tonight.”
Luna raised an eyebrow.
“You're serious?”
“Your enemies won't wait until you're ready.”
He led her outside to a large training ground.
Mia watched from the side as Damon demonstrated a defensive stance.
“Again.”
Luna copied him.
She moved quickly, but Damon easily blocked her.
“Too slow.”
She tried again.
He stopped her.
“Your power is strong, but you rely on it too much.”
Luna wiped the sweat from her forehead.
“Then teach me properly.”
Damon stepped closer.
“Don't fight with anger. Fight with purpose.”
Luna took a deep breath.
She attacked again.
This time, Damon barely managed to block her.
He smiled.
“Better.”
Luna smiled too.
For the first time since Kael rejected her, she felt something she had almost forgotten.
Confidence.
But their peaceful moment didn't last.
A messenger suddenly ran into the courtyard.
“Alpha Damon!”
Damon turned.
“What happened?”
The messenger lowered his voice.
“We received a message from Blackthorn territory.”
Damon's expression changed.
“What message?”
The messenger looked at Luna.
“Alpha Kael has declared that Luna Rose is still his mate.”
Luna's smile disappeared.
Damon's eyes darkened.
“He has no right.”
The messenger swallowed.
“There is more.”
“What?”
“Kael is coming here.”
Luna's heart began to race.
Damon looked toward the gates.
“Then let him come.”
