The day was warm. And I was thankful for the weather. It was a complete contradiction to what was happening. The reserve was beautiful, lush and green. All signs of winter had vanished. I stood at the ledges that over looked the gorge and inhaled deeply. The tops of the evergreens reached tall into the horizon as if yearning for more light. It had been three days since I had been home; since the night of Carson's rescue and I was longing for a shower and a good night's sleep.
