It was a cold rainy night Luna woke up with a jolt to the sound of thunder rumbling, the wind pushing down the rake startled her. She noticed her windows were open not sure why, she knew she had closed them before she went to bed. The wind blew the curtains heavily, she quickly got out of bed shutting it. About to draw the curtains closed she noticed a figure standing in the woods just opposite her window, the rain still falling heavily. She turned to put off her lamp turning back the figure was not there. It was the figure of a woman, maybe she was lost Luna thought to herself. Just as she was about to go back to bed she heard noises coming from the back of the house. She made her way to the door quietly opened it and stepped out, she tip toed passed her mother's room as her door was slightly open. She could hear her snore from the hall way. There was the noise again this time louder, she took a baseball bat lying by the corner, lifting it over her shoulder with her hands holding firmly at the end ready to smash at whatever or whoever. Luna maintained her slow pace heading for the back door, it was open. Fear ran through her spine, it was pitch black the only light that illuminated the room was the light from her phone. Her hands gripped the baseball bat more firmly now. She walked closer to the door not knowing what to expect her heart racing “what if someone was already inside the house” she thought to herself, just as she was about to shut the door there was a loud bang, it was coming from upstairs. She quickly shut the back door rushing upstairs her mother was still fast asleep she wondered how she hasn't been hearing the noises, her snores became louder. Luna still holding the bat pushed her door open slowly it's creaking sound made her heart race even more. She pushed the door and there was a woman standing, she backed Luna facing the window just staring. The woman was lean, with a wild unkempt look. Her tangled hair fell in uneven waves. Luna couldn't make a clear view of her hair but it looked like it was striped in bits of gray and dirt as is she'd combed it with her hands. She wore a faded, oversized shirt and patched jeans, both worn so thin that the original colors were barely recognizable. Her gaze was very intense but weary softened by an underlying sadness as if she carried the weight of depression for a long time.
The woman stood there muttering the words “you nigit wellongs it as” she kept muttering these words repeatedly. Luna watched as the woman began to turn slowly facing her “Fear not the beast within, embrace it, for it is our greatest strength” the woman added. Luna was perplexed, in the state of confusion she asked “Who are you” soon the crescent moon lapis lazuli necklace on Luna's neck began to glow. Soon the woman's eyes grew wider as if it was going to pop. She tried approaching Luna, Luna drifted back still holding the baseball bat waiting for her instinct to give her a go ahead. “You come close I smash this bat on your head, stay away from me” she began walking towards Luna “stay away” Luna screamed in order to wake her mom up. “You need to master your powers Luna, there's no time. If Damon finds you he'd kill you. You must retrieve the ring from him, but you have to master your powers” the woman said “what powers are you talking ab…” the woman cuts in “That necklace was given to you by your mother when you were born, whenever it glows it means she's close” The necklace continued glowing, a very bright blue light. “What are you talking about” Luna asked. “It's a long story, soon you'd find out about your background, when you start experiencing anything out of the ordinary meet me at Silverbrook’s end leading to Peris I'd be there and I'd take you to the others” the woman said about to leave, Luna interrupted “what others are you talking about, who the hell are you” the woman looked at her “ The other werewolves, I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to help you” suddenly her eyes turned a bright sharp golden colour, she left through the window.
Luna still standing at the door wondered if she had just been dreaming, she finally released the baseball bat from her hands. Her chest felt tightened by what had just happened. The words of the strange woman played back in her head “you nigit wellongs it as” what does this even mean, she struggled to understand.
Soon she heard a creak sound coming from the hallway, she gasped. “Luna are you okay” it was her mother who had been sleeping. “ yes mom I'm fine” Luna replied “you sure baby, I thought I heard you talking to someone” “no mom I wasn't” “uhm mom what hospital was I born” Luna asked. Freda was confused at why she suddenly asked that question, she has never told her how she was found so she wondered what prompted her to ask about her birth. “Uhmm honey you uhm, sweetie I think you should sleep now okay, look it's three o’clock in the morning okay, you have school tomorrow and you wouldn't want to go to school with saggy eyes okay” she proceeded to tuck Luna in. The necklace began to glow again, the bright blue light became even more brighter it startled Freda, “Luna what's going on” she asked, soon it became normal. Luna rushed to the window seeing the strange woman giving her a last look before disappearing into the dark. “Luna are you okay, sweetie you're scaring me” Freda said moving towards her. “Mom who am I” Luna asked.
