LUNA

Chapter Four

Nadia got to the bathroom, Mrs Pamela behind her. She went straight to the bathroom where Luna had been but she was gone. They were both shocked to see the bathroom empty. Mrs Pamela began thinking Nadia be playing pranks on her. “She was right her maam,right here” Mrs Pamela didn't know what to believe, if Luna had ran away or they both planned to startle her. It has happened before, where a group of students planned to trick her into believing someone had fainted and needed assistance. She rushed just to the scene and found the students dancing and laughing. She reported to the school authorities and had them punished for their behavior. Now she's at that same edge of coming to a rescue not finding the person present. Nadia rushed back to class hoping to find Luna there, but she wasn't. Her backpack, everything was gone. “Hey did Luna come in here “ she asked a student. “No I didn't” she replied “Hey hi uhmm, did you see anybody taking Luna's backpack” Nadia asked another. she got the same answer No. Nadia packed her things about to leave before bumping into Nolan. “Hey Nadia” Nolan said looking behind her and around with no sign of Luna. “Uhmm where's Luna, she's always with you” “Luna’s missing Nolan, I need to find her” she said leaving in a rush. “hey wait up, where are you going now” Nolan asked. “To the police of course, where else would I go” Nadia replied angrily. “Alright I'd join you” Nolan replied. They both made their way out of the school premises in Nolans car.

Mr Henry drove as fast as he could through the thick forest, it was as though the more he drove past, the forest kept closing in making it hard for anybody to notice any car. Luna layed unconscious at the back seat. Her skin became more pale, her claws incredibly visible. Henry watched her from his mirror to make sure she makes it in time. Soon enough he made a heavy stop in front of Eldric's house, rushing out of the car with Luna on his shoulders. “What happened Henry” Lara came quickly from the kitchen as Henry placed unconscious Luna on the dining table. Eldric walked right in with a greenish liquid ointment putting two drops into Luna's mouth and another two drops again. Lara stood beside Henry with her both hands on her head coming down to her face before she made a stop crossing both hands on her shoulders as she watched her daughter lay like an almost dead animal. The necklace on Luna's neck began to glow as she began turning sideways. The substance Eldric had given her earlier started working, her skin was normal and her claws had disappeared. “You nigit wellongs it as” Henry muttered those words. “The night belongs to us” Lara said joining her both hands with Luna's. Luna let out a deep breath falling into a deep sleep. “She has to learn how to control it, she's different from the others” Eldric said walking towards his shelf full of ancient artifacts. “She'd wake up in two hours, but before then, Henry you need to take her back immediately. Her folks might be searching for her, you sure nobody saw you take her” “Nobody saw me at all” Henry replied. “Okay good, you need to leave now” Eldric replied.

Back at the station Nadia and Nolan tired to file a missing person's report but the police are refusing. “Look her young lady, it's not up to twenty four hours, she might come back and if she doesn't then the police would step in okay” the sheriff said “we don't want no high school kid playing tricks on us” another sheriff that looked like he had been stuffed with doughnuts and tea added. “look her mister, my girlfriend is missing and you sit here and spill trash” Nolan angrily said. “Watch your mouth kid” The sheriff hit the table angrily. “You know what I'd go with you to school and if I find out you playing tricks with the police department you'd spend your night in jail,is that fair” Nadia and Nolan looked at each other before nodding their heads in agreement.

The sheriff and his colleague drove in their police car, while Nolan and Nadia drove in his. The drive to school wasn't long. Nadia led the way with Nolan and the sheriff's behind her. She got to the classroom room only to be shocked at what she had seen, she looked at Nolan to see if he was as shocked as she was. His mouth opened and closed. The sheriff's wondered why Nadia said Nolan suddenly began stiff “is this supposed to be the principal's office” one of the sheriff asked. “No it's not possible, it can't be” Nadia muttered in confusion, Nolan looked at Nadia again wondering if Nadia had just lied to him too. Nadia rushed over to Luna, “hey where have you been, you were just missing, how are you here” Luna looked at her with a dull eyes “I was in the bathroom” Luna replied “No you were not” Nadia cuts in “thank goodness you're fine” Nadia said as she hugged Luna tightly, Nolan pulled a chair beside her and patted her back placing a kiss on her hands. “You two are under arrest” the sheriff's grabbed both Nadia and Nolan losing their handcuffs as they pinned them to the table, they both struggled to break free “I'm saying the truth officer, she was missing not long ago” Nadia shouted. The other students watched, a few brought out their phones and recorded the scene. Nolan finally broke free fighting off the officer. Then Mr Henry walked in, even his physical stature made the officers look twice the look in the eyes wondered if he was a real person. “What's wrong officers” he asked “and who are you” the officers asked “I'm their school teachers and also in charge of students welfare and I demand to know what's going on” henry replied with authority in his already deep voice. “These kids came to the station and tricked us into coming to school claiming that her friend was missing” the officer said. Henry turned to Nadia and Nolan and back at the officers “So sorry for that officers, you know how kids can be” Just as the officer was about to speak, Luna muttered the words like a whisper “you nigit wellongs it as” repeatedly. One of the officers looked at her and said “She needs to see a psychiatrist” before leaving.
