Chapter 8

DAMON I’d planned this for days. Revenge. Carefully crafted out. She thought it was over, that we’d only come back together after surprisingly meeting at the Academy but little did she know she would be walking directly into the pit she dug for herself. I’d already told Aiden there’s no Denis, that it was my foster father and I came from a very wealthy family, as the heir, my parents didn’t want anyone knowing about me from earlier on. Aiden trusted me so well, he knew I would never lie to him and I would never lead him into danger. But I told him he’s coming as a best friend from school, coming to spend the holidays with me. I even went further to convince him. “When they know you’re an orphan and have no home, they might even take you in permanently.” The soft glow of delight on his face as I told him this was everything. “Sure, I’m coming.” Hearing that dad had taken a new wife, I was destabilized. I wanted to return to see which family he was trying to create again. As much as my mom never gave me any attention as a kid, till now, I felt bad, probably not for her, but for myself. I felt it was gonna be complicated with a new stepsister and my guy. I didn’t know who the girl was until days later. “Really good!” I grinned to the extreme of my lips when her picture surprisingly showed. My mom had sent it to me. The same girl who f****d my life years back and even tried in the academy but now it was our turn to f**k her life up. So I left the Academy and hurried back before Aiden who stayed to pack. It would be both of us against her, not only us. Dad saw her as a pawn. Mom, a means to an end, hurting Selena. Little did she know she was in the midst of ferocious beasts and her mom could never help her. There’s a little danger however. Exposing her secret relationship. Aiden pointed out. “If she does, I’ll kill her.” I vowed. “I’ll torture and kill her.” This time, I vowed not to let anyone take Aiden away from me. The worst was it being her. It would never be! I’d already told dad someone would be coming in. A best friend of mine. Then Aiden arrived. To mom, he would be my personal assistant being the heir. I wanted to employ him since he had no family and support. She had no problem with that. It seemed everything was all set. No one knew about Aiden’s arrival except my parents and few of my close servants. It wasn’t meant to be a case of publicity. Aiden stayed in the room close to mine. Quiet and waiting. Eager for the next moment I would be inviting Cady to my torture spree. Or the moment I'd be inviting for a romance and f**k session. I likewise waited for night to take Aiden out, have a walk with him. The villa had gone dead quiet. Seeing Cady wasn’t an option. She would be in bed. I walked him through the old eastern wing myself. For years, no one lived here. It housed important documents locked up in archives in the room. I knew this was the only place we could have some privacy. Aiden snuggled into my arms, sliding his hand over my waist. “I missed you so much.” He mumbled. I chuckled, amused. Here he was acting as though he hadn’t seen me in years. “I hope no one can see or hear us here?” I launched a witty look. “What are you up to?” And we both grinned. “We’ve got a lot to talk about.” He said. Not what I suspected. “Yeahhh.” I uttered. We’d got a whole lot to talk about. Our relationship, Cady and the revenge we’d carefully planned out. Our future, recalling how she said years back that we would never be together. The urge of giving up wasn’t there. Then Aiden yawned. I slapped his back, chuckling. “What’s wrong?” I teased. “Sleep,” he yawned again. “You wanna sleep now. I still feel like talking to…..” “No. It’s fine. I’m fine.” He stammered. “Hmm. Okay.” I led him back to our wing, nevertheless. He had come to stay, there was no reason going so clingy like he’s leaving tomorrow. After dropping him, I stepped back outside to savor the fresh air before sleeping. The night air hit me sharply. It was freezing, coupled with the falling snow. The tree at the center of the wing, on the ground shimmered with the white light decorated on it, adding beauty to the scene. The garden lanterns were up, glowing with golden lights. Such a perfect night, especially with the return of my love. I took a deep breath, speculating ways of how to deal with Cady. It was the only thing that came to my idle mind. Giving her what she deserved. And right away, something pricked my heart, like telling me to look. I looked down. Cady stood there. At the far edge of the courtyard near the snow-covered hedgerow, arms wrapped around herself. She was dressed in a pink lacey bikini gown, barely covering her boobs and ass. The urge to shout right away, kicking her back into her room aroused but it was night. I didn’t want to disturb the peace of those already in bed. Secondly, my mind buckled with curiosity. “What is she doing outside here by this time of the night?” “Is she standing there on purpose?” The questions sized me up. She still had no idea I was above her. My heart exploded toward her. Not a slight pull but an explosion, sudden and l savage, every instinct I possessed lurching toward her across the semi-dim courtyard. Deep desire grazed me but not just ordinary, the hard, wicked and brutal one. This however had nothing to do with our plan, my dad’s orders, Aiden sleeping twenty feet behind me, or the years of damage this girl had caused to the guy I loved. It was strange to all of these, which in fact got me feeling weird. I scolded my heart. “Remember what dad said? I’m to break her, not want her” The heavy pounding of the chest didn’t go, rather it went deeper. My heart pressed against my ribs from the inside like something that had been waiting longer than I could tell. My heart was pointing at her. “She’s the one! She’s the one!!” “She’s the one……what?” I growled angrily within. “No, I can’t allow this.” I seized my heart, caging it. I gripped the railing until the metal bent into my palms. I watched her body shake spirally. Reflex in action. I guessed. She pulled her arms tighter around herself, and turned to go back inside. She moved without a song but quickly, with head slightly bowed against the cold. Before I knew, she disappeared through the side door without ever looking up. The pull didn’t ease even after she vanished. It sat in my chest afterward like an ember that had no intention of going out, whereas it was the first thing I’d love to wish out of my heart. I stood at the railing for a long time before going back inside. Aiden was still awake, eyes bare-opened, he flung his head to my direction as he heard me walk in. Tonight, I'd decided to sleep in his room, after all no one would know. Something about him was waiting for this. His look. He looked at me with a slow, sleepy attention. I crossed the room to sit on the edge of the bed beside him. I pulled him into me, one hand at the back of his head, his face against my neck, with my jaw resting on his hair. He exhaled against my skin, long and warm, arms coming up around me without a word. The look and silence meant everything. There were no questions. Just the two of us, looking at each other with everlasting longing. His hand gripped tighter. His breath, going harder. “This time I won't let anyone take you away from me.” He hummed. Somehow the image of Cady managed to dive in, through me. I try to shake it off. This is a girl I was supposed to torture and destroy. Why am I feeling her this way? What's wrong with my heart? What has come over it? We're questions I couldn't stop trying to figure out as I grabbed Aiden tighter, kissing his forehead. I climbed on the bed, cuddling him. “Let's sleep. Tomorrow is another day.” I said to him.
