Janice sat next to me in the luxurious Maserati and swooned at the thought of Beta Cleo. Yes, I noticed at dinner last night that she was always looking for his attention, but the man was only polite to her. He clearly wasn't interested in her as anything more than a friend.
Actually, I had more of an idea that she was afraid that he would be more interested in me than normal and wanted to secure her place in the man's life. Fortunately, the Beta was simply being friendly, teasing me a few times about a mate who was probably looking for me all over the world.
